They get less time for PT but have to meet the same standards and pass the same tests. They also have to practice. 900 divisions will perform during the PIR's before there's actually happens. They will perform during there own PIR but I am not sure in what capacity exactly. There is a huge parade of state flags...drum core...choir. Ithink one performed off base for the Centennial in a parade.
I agree with sjtina...if he doesn't play or sing...his leadership since he was CO if his DEP group...he must be able to march!

Got our form letter and box today which was a huge surprise!  It was earlier than we expected since our SR just left for BC on Sept 13th.  But he said his PIR is 11/4.  Woohoo!  Funny how just seeing his handwriting can bring tears to my eyes and a smile on my face.  N4M's has been a life saver so far.  Thanks to all the veteran moms for their time to keep us newbies going.

bsobo thank you for the link. Thats interesting, doesnt look like just anyone gets in since they are handpicked. There's definately a reason they wanted your husband. Maybe its his leadership skills. Keep us posted

I read about the 900 division, although some of them are musical, the others are selected to perform at PIR. They also get less PT time for some reason. I was curious because the musical thing is not my husbands forte lol. He doesn't really do the flag or anything else either. He was the CO for his DEP group so I though that may have something to do with it. We will see...

Below is the link I found that explains the division. Thanks for your input cannot wait to get my mail.

bsobo I thought that the 900 divisions are instrumental. They are a special group. I just dont know enough about it.

3 weeks sounds right to recieve letters. They are allowed to write on Sunday, most the time my letters were here on Wed. and Thurs. for NJ

Comment by bsobo on September 19, 2011 at 10:38pm

so do the SR's get to start writing their letters in the 3rd week or do we receive some in the 3rd week? Does anyone know how soon they will receive ours? I sent my husbands out last thursday

sjtina..not sure I joined the 951 division above and the person who started it said she heard that it was a special division, thats what her recruiter said. I hadn't heard anything so I was curious if anyone else knew of anything

bsobo does the 900 division perform at PIR?

Skyler from Class 2 9 0 started a discussion above for the 800 divisions.

I have one of those sailor picures with both my boys. My oldest is a seabee ( he loved GI Joes). There werent many choices back in the day for boys clothing. sports, cars and military. Thats not very politically correct any more. haha. I remember looking at all the pretty girls clothes. Now that I have a daughter, it makes me appreciate how easy the boys were.

has anyone ever heard of anything about the 951 division?
