Form letters usually arrive a week or so after The Box.
Back to receiving letters from your SR. I forgot to add that the RDC have to train a SR to handle and sort all the mail. (like a mailman)
Ladies, I agree with Betsy, It is better to wait. Yes, the Recruiters work for RTC but they are often given the wrong address of your SR. This is because during the first 3 weeks it is very crazy over at RTC. This is due to the fact that the RDCs are forming their divisions. Sort of like in sports. I don't know how they pick who goes where but this process takes awhile as they have 1,000 SR to organize.
I didn't get any mail for the first 3 weeks and then I got 3 letters the same day.
Bandito's Mom - Yes, encourage your DIL to call the recruiter. It is not a "hassle" to them to look up the address. Took less than a 3 min phone call when I called my daughter's on Monday and they were helpful and understanding.
I really hope to get the letter soon, but as we live remotely mail always takes more time to get here then elsewhere.
Lizzie's Mom - You are MORE than welcome and you nailed it on the head...being informed can make the BC experience much smoother for the recruit. It is still an adjustment and challenging, but KNOWING what is going to happen prepares them. The same is for us!
Would we "be fine" without this site...sure...but IMHO supporting each other is what helps us to support our servicemembers.
Lizzie's mom, the box is a big step. I'm sure your daughter would be so proud of you for holding it together. ((hugs))
Well, I received "the box" today.....no tears, but sad for me. Happy that my SR has finally started this next step of her life. Cannot wait until the letter. Want to see her handwriting and hope that she writes a personal note.
I mailed off all of her letters today that I had previously written. Working on a letter a day for her....hope I can keep it up (not a good letter writer at all).
