Christina - There is a group here called Nuke School Charleston that has a lot of helpful information about Nuke School. There is also a discussion on there about Phases and how they apply to the sailors while in school. From what I understand, the non-married sailors will have restrictions that some married don't have, like living in base housing, etc. She has a lot of information that I had no idea and goes along with what @Tobianne was saying.
Phase 1 will last 4-8 weeks (depending on seabag inspection and following the rules) will move up to Phase 2 and have more privileges like drinking, riding their bikes on base and wearing uniform on weekends, etc...
They will only get limited liberty weekends and their mileage will increase as they phase up.
It will have everything on there lol. Hope this helps!

Wow, what an awesome weekend!! It was great to have our family time again. We did exactly what Diego wanted to do..............pretty much nothing!! We loved it, to be with him again and to have all of us together. Well, almost all of us. Our golden retriever, Nikko was missing. If we could have brought her, we would have. Diego and she would have loved it, she missed him so much and always lays under his truck that is parked. It is so hard to let him go last night, though we had to. We stayed with him until about 6:30 and then headed home. We will see him four weeks when he can come home for break and to get married. Kelsey and he got lots of wedding plans taken care of, their songs they wanted and she caught him up to what is already planned and we are good to go. It was so great to meet so many from here, we need to keep in touch!! What an awesome group of ladies you all are!!! I am blessed to have met you not only here, but those I met in person...........priceless!!!

The hardest thing about leaving is not knowing when I will see him again. We left at 7:20 last night & drove all night so hubby could do some work today. I got my last letter from my son sent from boot camp when I got home & had a good crying jag. I kept it together at PIR because I was so excited, and lost it today lol. I can't wait until I can send his computer & phone so we can stay in touch, then it will be easier I think.

Anybody in here got the after Great Lakes blues...I know I sure did...I think saying goodbye then was harder than the 1st time...because I knew I was saying goodbye to a man. But, on the flip side he calls almost everyday now and is certainly having the time of his life in Pcola...he rented jet skis yesterday and I am freezing my behind off...lol So if you feel that swell of emotions again...relax and breathe and know it is all normal!!

I loved meeting his new friends and seeing how the NAVY has effected him and how much he has grown!! not going to get to see him for Thanksgiving, but looking forward to Christmas!!

Just want to drop a note - we're pretty sure our son will be able to come home from Groton for Thanksgiving - he has 2 roommates from the south and we told him to bring them along -we'd love to share the holiday with them. We're only a little over an hour away which I believe is within the limits for how far they can go. looking forward to spending time with him and his roomies for as long as they are allowed. Will be our privilege to be "family" to his friends!

OMG !! This past weekend has been the best. I see a BIG change in my son and I am so proud of him. I wished that we could have stayed longer yesterday with him. But we had to get home. We dropped him back at the base at 2:30 and that was the hardest thing. It was just like when we watched him get on that bus to bootcamp. I just enjoyed every minute with my son this past weekend. He looked really tired and still had a cold but other than that he seemed to be doing really good. He also said that bootcamp is nothing like everyone makes it out to be. That I am glad of. And the weather was absolutely COLD !! Being from the south........well, it was really cold !! But I didn't mind as long as I spent every minute with my son...is all that mattered !! Thanks to all that helped us get through all this bootcamp. It was so nice to have other people to talk to and cry too (if needed ) ! Thanks again.
