OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Where do I find the link to print my parking pass? And what ship and divisions are calling?

We are willing to take sailors whom do don't have family at PIR with us also.  I have asked my daughter if she knew of anyone?  Do we need to have any paperwork filled out or do we just sign them out?

Classycalicat, It is absolutely OK if you want to take some "extra" Sailors with you. They will love it, and appreciate it I am sure.

Also, my son asked if we can take some of the Sailors whose families can not make the P.I.R. to dinner. Absolutely! If there are any Sailor families that can not go. Let me know  & I will do my best to get your Sailor out for a nice dinner & hanging out together & phone calls home! Not really sure of protocol if this is OK or not. But my son didn't want to see his ship mates alone during this great time in their lives.

I just got off the phone with my Ship 03 Div.002 Sailor!!!

I'm Chicago bound next Thursday!!!

Congratulations Moms & Sailor Families on your Sailors!!

My Sailor did recognize some of the Initials of your Sailors. So it will be fun to match the Sailors & Moms up next week.

Doing when where!!? Ha. Yes we want to know!! I'm so crazy silky right now. Just sealed my last letter wth love. Giving password to family members to print gate pass. Waiting g to hear a ring on my phone. Heading g to dry cleaners to get clothes ready for pir. Going to staples to try and work up a banber, to craft store for homemade items for banner. And to look for,a watch for my sr/sailor. Had ordered a gshock and it was back ordered so didn't arrive. Fun times. But nothing as exciting as waiting to hear my boys voice and his heart, spirit, how he is, hopefully within the hour/s. Proud navy mom!!
