Has anyone heard from their Recruit in ship 04 division 007?

Most likely this group didn't get to mail out letters until they had been up there almost 2 weeks.  Not sure when most arrived, but they have to train the Recruit Mail Petty Officer first....some may finish earlier than 2 weeks, but most will have their first chance to mail out letters at the 2 week mark, on a Sunday usually, and receive held mail then.  It is true that after the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained, they get to receive mail M-F but can only mail out on Mondays (collected on Sundays).

I did receive a call from my son on Saturday but he could only talk for about 5 minutes. He wanted to let us know that they removed his wisdom teeth. And was doing fine after the procedure. However his best friend went to bc the week prior to my son and his mom got ALL of his letters Saturday and his call. So we all should be getting our letters and call by the end of this week or early next week. But I did find out that they receive mail everyday but Saturday and Sunday but can only send their mail out one day a week. If you send cards no glitter or anything that can rub off on their uniforms. It was so nice to hear his voice but he sounded tired and I'm sure his mouth was hurting. I hate that I couldn't be there while he was trying to recover from the procedure.But he did say he was doing good on his testing and had made some kind of leader but he was talking so fast and we had really no time to ask questions. So mom's make sure you have pen and paper ready to write down what they say and any questions you might have. That away you can pass on what they tell you! So sorry for the long post!

@A's- Mom  ~ I sure hope so! My son told me that he had already written a letter & that I should have gotten it the week of his first call home, but alas ~ nada..... Hopefully the post man was holding letters home & sending them all out at the same time? I wishfully say......... Let's keep our fingers crossed for a phone call, letter, message in a bottle..... : )

Catmom509, I too agree!! Shows right off the benefit of medical ins and care for our sailors. I just got a chuckle from kens post re question on wisdom teeth. I too have heard so many of the SRS getting wisdom teeth pulled, including my own son. Just made me smile tonight and actually have a good belly laugh.

@Classycalicat--Hopefully we get a call next weekend. Feeling a little better about it today, we still have something to look forward to. And we have Thursday, maybe we'll receive boot camp mail!!!

No phone calls yet from my sailor. We are booked into the Springhill Suites for our stay. We had no idea about the wisdom teeth! Crazy!! I can't wait to hear from him. I am missing my boy for sure!
