N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I heard yesterday in a short phone call from my sons girlfriend that when he called her he said all 901 passed battle stations and they had to stay awake until bed time. No call yet today they were made to get off the phone not sure what happened

Ok, Leesaisme.  SO his group went on Monday night.  See my comment below for what I THINK may be the situation.

Received I'm a sailor call when I was getting off my flight about 230 this afternoon! He sounded very tired! We are in Chicago!!!!
Comment by diannep on November 11, 2015 at 7:11pm

Just remember that once they miss their own PIR, they do not have another PIR.  They stay in FIT and have 10-12 more tries, then do BattleStations, may have a very short Liberty (no real heads up on that)....and head to A School.

Comment by diannep on November 11, 2015 at 7:09pm

Oh, ok, Leesaisme.  So yours was in FIT.  Here's the issue.  With today being a holiday, I don't believe they could re test today which is the normal day for them to test again if they didn't pass on Monday. But I saw where someone posted that they will do it tomorrow (Thurs) instead.  So....sounds to me like your SR may have tested either yesterday or Monday....but must not have passed or I think you would have heard.  So tomorrow would be the day to try again....there is a BattleStations tomorrow night with the next PIR group and if your SR passes the PFA, he should be going through with them tomorrow night.  Ugh....I know....down to the wire....I will tell you that in a recent PIR group, a lady had this same situation as yours and they continued with their plans to go to GL just in case.  Sadly, I don't think their SR had passed but they were not going to miss it if they had a sailor.  They said they would just sightsee if they could not get into PIR (which no one can do unless they have a sailor and are on the guest list).  It would have to be your call....but I say this:  IF you get a call in the morning from your SR that he passed his PFA, please go because he WILL pass BattleStations.  He may be in the balcony too tired to march, but he will be in uniform sitting with the others in his same position.  And you will have your sailor!  Please keep us posted....you too, Ken.

Ken:  Since yours is in 901, I wonder if that division may have been involved in performing to day at some venue for Veteran's Day and maybe were practicing yesterday, not having time to call then or today?  I checked your discussion group above and sadly, no one has posted on comment on it, other than ellen (group creator).  If anyone on this group is also on the FB groups, can you please ask on FB if all in 901 passed BattleStations and report back here?

Leesaisme:  Same division?

Comment by Leesaisme on November 11, 2015 at 7:02pm
We did get the call last week saying not to come but then Sunday he called to say he was testing again yesterday. I can still cancel my flight but I don't want to if there is any chance from yesterday or tomorrow.
Comment by diannep on November 11, 2015 at 6:59pm

I know, Ken.  We encounter this in every PIR group and it is so hard to advise----families having PIR plans in limbo.  Did you check you SR's FB to see if possibly your hopefully new sailor posted there?  They can get access to computers sometimes before the phone banks.
