N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Alicia:  Sorry, but your new sailor most likely will be bussed to the airport later on PIR night and will fly out on Sat.  You can meet him at the airport and bring ID so you can wait at the gate until his departure.  Occasionally they don't leave until Sunday, depending on flight availability, so it is best if you book your own return back later on Sunday if possible...just in case!

Hello all.  I got the letter today.  My SR is on ship 2 divison 901 with a PIR 11/13.  This is my second time thru BC.  My daughter gradated on 12/05/11 in a 900 division as well.  She was a stick (flag barer).  I'm still friends with several mom's from that turn.  I look forward to getting to know a lot of you awesome mom's here too.

Hello, my son left for boot camp on 9/21. He is also going to Mississippi for A school. From your experience, would he have the weekend after PIR to spend with family or does he leave the next day?

Hello all! This is my second time around as a BC Mom! I have one son who is a Petty Officer on Ike, and now my younger son is at Great Lakes on ship 06 in div 003 till 11/13/15. He will go to A school after PIR in Meridian, Mississippi just like is older brother did. I just wanted to say hello to everyone!

NavySMom&Daughter:  Yes, extras may be allowed into the Chapel to watch the Livestream of the service.  It is not a guarantee....and they prefer that extras wait at the hotels and watch the Livestream there (most hotels stream it in a public area)....but if your extras need to come, they will try to accommodate.  They will have a separate line to get in....and will be escorted into the Chapel (hence no one wandering the base or trying to get into the PIR Hall!).....there is no food/drink allowed in the Chapel (it IS allowed in PIR Hall)....children under 18 must be with an adult....all must wait until completion of PIR before trying to leave the Chapel....and all will be escorted back to the Visitors Center where the sailor/family will meet them.  If there is a glitch in the Livestream (which happens sometimes) and it won't work, all must remain in there anyway until PIR concludes.
