N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello Friends~~

     "He gives strength to the weary and increases

      the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired

      and weary, and the young stumble and fall;

      But those who hope in the Lord will renew

      their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;

      they will run and not grow weary, they will walk

      and not be faint."

You're welcome Missy Michele!

Letters from you recruits will be a while yet, it usually takes about two weeks after they move to their training ship before they can write and mail letters.

When the recruits are moved to their ship for training a recruit is chosen for the mail petty officer position (RMPO), and then must be trained to "handle" the mail. This takes anywhere from a few days up to a couple weeks.

Once the RMPO is trained mail will start moving along. Mail that arrives at the RTC before the RMPO is trained is put on "hold", and is only sorted after the current days mail is taken care of. So, if you mail early what you have mailed may sit in a mail bag for a couple days until the RMPO can get caught up.

Good morning all!  My daughter arrived in BC 9/14/15, received my kid in a box 9/17/15 and i'm still waiting for my form letter.  I live in TX so not sure if that is the delay.  I will be anxiously checking my mailbox daily so that I may complete my travel arrangements. So excited about this new adventure for my baby girl!!

Hi diannep,

Thanks for the info. I actually have family that work for United so I have some flexibility.

Good Morning All !

Welcome, Destiny's mom!  Just to let you know that if you book flights on Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL) or Chicago Midway (hour+ drive to GL depending on traffic)....they have no change fee if you have to change your flights for any reason (such as delay in your SR's training....my son was setback and we had to change flights when he was up there).  They also allow 2 checked bags for free  They offer a discount rental car code as well when your flights booked with them.  Just a thought!  Unless you are using frequent flyer miles with United.... :-)

My SR daughter arrived at BC on 9/15. I received the infamous "box" on 9/23/15. No letter but from the looks of it (reading you lovely ladies posts) we may be in this group. I have already made reservations at Navy Lodge (did that last week). I am a crazy planner. I also have some flights on hold with United just in case I receive the form letter this week. I am so excited. This is my 18 yr old first time away from home without me and her siblings but I know she is fine (i hope).  Her 4 yr old brother misses her terribly. How many more Fridays to go? ;-)

Here is where I found the information about the cost of things and the $50 shipping. This is what makes me think he needs access to more money.

Sorry, ellen!  Didn't see your post about the TG 01 until after I posted mine!  Great minds think alike!  :-)
