SweeBasil,

I'm from Southern California and my Delta flight was only about $347 roundtrip to O'Hare last year for my Sailor daughter's PIR in March~~

Book your room first.  Call the hotel directly and ask for the Navy Graduation rate.  No deposit necessary.  Favorites are Navy Lodge (book under your SR's name), Courtyard by Marriot, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn, and Springhill Suites (the last 4 in Waukegan/Gurnee about 10 mins from Recruit Training Command).  There is a Super Walmart, places to eat, and Sarge's Meet & Greet all in that area.

Hey everyone, I want to give you a "HEADS UP" to be prepared to receive calls from your SRs this weekend!  The call will show up as "847", "Pay Phone", or "Government" or anything else that may be unfamiliar.  If it is a sales call, just politely tell them "No, thank you."

During this time in Boot Camp, please keep your cell phones charged, ready, and with you all the time---upstairs, downstairs, out in the backyard, in the bathroom, out to get the mail, of course, out on errands.  If you are going to a loud restaurant or a movie theater, remember to put it on "vibrate" and put in your pocket or some place you can feel it.  They can call during the week or weekend, so just be prepared:  6:00 am - 6:00 pm (West Coast); 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Great Lakes time); 9:00 am - 9:00 pm (East Coast).

HI my son is ship 14 div 002. from what I am reading I am kind of shocked he isn't in the 900 div. He played three instruments. I can guarantee he didn't volunteer that information though. No matter what he is not the speak out kind of kid.  I will be shocked If I receive any phone call or letters from my son. He hates the phone, is not the talkative kind of kid. I am hopeful for a few letters at least.

Our porch lights are on in Western NC to help a 6 year old boy shine lights to the moon in honor of his dad who was an Army Sargent deployed to Afghanistan and killed one year ago today. Please help this little boy light a path to moon for his dad. God bless you and your family Darren and thanks so much for your families service and sacrifice for our country <3 Everyone please turn your porch lights on for Darren and help him light a path to his Dad :) Thanks so much.  http://www.today.com/news/shine-lights-moon-honor-my-slain-vet-dad-...

Hello ladies....my son is in Ship 11 Div 003. Who's in this division? So excited for PIR 11/14. Already making the plans for when we make the drive from Florida. My son left on 9/17 and I have written him a letter everyday. I was so excited to have received his mailing address yesterday. So much that I quickly addresed each envelope and rushed to the post office to mail them. I can't wait to get his phone call, to be able to hear his voice and to hear how he's been doing. I am so proud of him!!!

tegstx:  Yes, your SR is in the performing division.  They perform in the 2 PIRs before there own (there is one each Fri) and then perform in their own, so you may get to see your SR in the LiveStream of those 2 PIRs!

Maggie6523:  My son told me the same thing before he went to Bootcamp back in 2009.  He wrote me five letters!  So....keep the faith!  Most of them will write!

Welcome to the new members of this group!  Please feel free to friend request others in your division as you see them post so you can trade emails and more personal info!  You can share last names by private email, but they are not allowed on the public pages like this one.  The SRs know each other by last names, by the way!

My son is in Ship 14 Div 002.  So glad to finally have confirmation of the date so we can make plans and the address so we can start sending letters. It's great to have this site and all the support that comes along with it.  Can't wait until 11/14/14.
