Can you tell me what the difference between A school and C school are and do all Sailors do both A and C school or do some do one or the other?? And how do we know where they are going to school do they already have this info. for sure?? Would there recuriter be able to tell me where he is going to school??
JohnsMom: Check out flights into Milwaukee in addition to the two Chicago airports (OHare and Midway). Milwaukee is usually cheaper from most cities, and it is only 45 minutes from GL. No traffic, and car rental is usually cheaper.
Be sure to check out Southwest Airlines if they fly from your area. They have no change fee (something I sure could have used since my son was asmoed (setback) when there and we already had our reservations...sigh...so 2 change fees for us!)....and your first 2 bags check for free. Chicago-Midway is the furthest airport from GL. OHare and Milwuakee are pretty much the same distance away (OHare is actually a little closer but with Chicago traffic, the time to get to GL is about the same as Milwaukee).
For those who have sailors flying out to A School and who plan to wait with them at the airports, remember that they fly out of OHare and Midway, not Milwaukee. So if you book your flights through Milwaukee, you may want to make your return later on Sunday. We actually advise you all to do this anyway in case the sailors don't fly out on Saturday (most do but there are changes soemtimes). Every now and then, some will fly out on Sunday instead.
JohnsMom: RTC Facebook posts pictures. Are you on FB? If so, just plug in Recruit Training Command and the site should come up.
I have a feeling that lots of letters will be going into the mailbox tomorrow to you all, but remember...being mailed a day late means your "mail day" this week will be moved back too!
Good Morning All!
As far as I know Columbus Day is a Federal holiday and that would mean holiday routine for the recruits. Very much like their Sunday routine. If they are scheduled for battlestations they would still do that. It should give them time to write an extra letter hopefully :-) And it doesn't count as a training day. Someone correct me if I am wrong :-)
Hello, I have some questions for the vets..
Even though tomorrow is a holiday, nothing changes for our SR's in BC, correct?
And also are we on week 3 day 1 tomorrow?
http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433
From reading the above link, I "think" my SR had his wisdom teeth pulled on Friday and has been in SIQ yesterday and today.. I wonder if he will have a chance to write home tomorrow, since today he was resting?? Thanks in advance :)
Milwaukee is a good place to fly into, the drive to the base is a few miles further but it takes less time because there isn't near as much traffic. Flights are also usually cheaper and so ar rental cars :-)
Good evening everyone, so sorry I have been MIA so much this weekend. This is fall break for our daughter that is in college. So she is home this weekend and it is the first time we have seen her since dropping her off at UNCW in August. It is good having her home. Not sure how she likes her room now that I turned half of it into a craft room lol :-) At least she still has a bed hehe. She definitely likes being able to find all the craft stuff so easily. Tomorrow we are making decorations for her dorm room door halloween decoration contest. How could she loose with me to help her? lol
We also heard from our Sailor again, she is doing well, working 7 days a week but they did get to watch the GA/SC game last night although she was not happy with the outcome. I sent her a candygram on her ship :-) I can't wait until she gets it, she has no idea :-D
