WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

joshuasmom:  Call Sarge about transportation---he has great rates.  He is wonderful!  Has a MeetandGreet too the night before PIR.  Full of info and beloved to the sailors up there.

Sarge   847-212-0246

You can text him or call.

No, JohnsMom.  No magazines.  Only letters can be mailed!

Anyone traveling solo to PIR that needs or would like to share accommodations? Trying to save money. Also any ideas how to get to Great Lakes from O'Hare without renting a car?

Just posted a BattleStations discussion above in the forum for your info.

Phone calls are never a guarantee. the usual calls are the "I am here call", about three weeks later the "I am still alive call", and then the "I am a Sailor" call that comes after Battlestations.

Calls that are granted during BC can come on any day at any time. Keep your phones handy at all times. The area code is usually 847 and the caller ID may say gov't call or pay phone.

Calls can start coming in for a division, but you may never get one. This could be because they have duty or calls have just been suspended for a multitude of reasons.

Always look forward to receiving a call, but don't expect one.

Questions for the "Veteran Moms" - when do they get to make their first phone call? Will it be on a Sunday?

“Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. You will look back and laugh at what has passed and you will ask yourself... 'How did I get through all of that?”

Good morning, I hope everyone is having a great day. I love looking at the clock everyday and seeing the countdown,
