For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Listening to my Act of Valor sound track!! It so fits my son. His GF and his song is actually "For You"... She heard it and said that before she ever knew it was his favorite movie and song!! That was when they first meet. :) so glad to have this site and all of you!! It's amazing how good it makes me feel just to know I am not alone out there. Well, good day to you all happy sailing and may fair winds and Gods blessings blow your way!!

Comment by diannep on October 4, 2012 at 8:30am: thelostairman: Yes, all divisions have their mail "held" for the first 2 weeks of bc. This is to get the Recruit Mail Petty Officer trained. After that, if it is held from them (shouldn't be though), it is a punishment for a division. We don't hear of that happening often.

Comment by diannep on October 4, 2012 at 8:29am: Lorie Lee: My son was there from Nov-Feb. He said they made sure they were dressed very warmly before they went out. On days when it was too cold, they didn't go out and march. So....no worries!

I know my Sailor Doughty is with me here in spirit. If any of you talk to your Sailor that knows him on SHIP 11 Div 006 ...Please ask them to uplift him in any way they can. I know it is killing him not to be here. Thanks in Advance <3
