Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Lorie-Lee ship 3 div 20 on October 3, 2012 at 11:43pm: I am still having difficulty with missing my SR...for instance yesterday I opened the frig. and began to cry (your all gonna appreciate this one!) my 15 yr old says Mom what wrong??? I miss your brother, look at all these leftovers if he were here there would be no food. (dad comes along shooos 15yr old off tells him i am fine not to worry) The following day we come home and I go to the frig to see what we will have for supper. The 15 yr old slide in front of the frig. blocking me from opening it and say ok just tell me what you want and i will get it for you!!! i can't bear to see you go through missing him every time you open the frig .lol it made me laugh. its funny what makes me cry!! One day at a time. Right!

Comment by GSDGirl on October 3, 2012 at 11:18pm: Erika314 I agree, it's so hard not talking to him, he still lived at home, so he was always here, or if he did go somewhere we would send texts here and there. The no contact is so hard, but hang in there.

It's only been three weeks but it feels like it's already been months!! I just wish I could talk to him for just a minute to hear his voice, and tell him again for the millionth time how proud of him we are. Which I put in every letter, but would give anything to tell him right now.
