9 divisions is a good number....about average. So there will be lots of extra seats for "extras" wanting to go to PIR! Bring them all!
JoJo(rich'smom) my tears were tears for joy...that just really made my day..thx so much for sharing!!!
I have a question. Does anyone know how our recruits can vote? My son applied for an absentee ballet but it didn't come until today. Can I send it to him?
ZacMansMom2012 - My son Tyler left out of Columbus, OH and they took a bus and picked up more recruits at the Dayton Airport.
I've heard that you'll have a good chunk of the day to spend with your SR. Some suggestions that are not too far from base (within the 50 mile limit): If the weather's nice, just walk around downtown. I recommend Millennium park, or the museum campus. The best pictures of the Chicago skyline are taken from in front of the Adler Planetarium. Navy Pier is very cool, unless your SR wants to get away from "Navy" themed things! Take Lake Shore Drive north and you can go to the Lincoln Park Zoo - it's free. If you're going to hang out downtown, make sure you eat at an iconic Chicago restaurant - Pizza (Lou Malnotti's, Geno's East, or Giordano's are popular), Ely's Cheesecake, Gene and Georgetti's Steak House, Billy Goat Tavern (only the ORIGINAL on lower Michigan Ave). There's also a Dave & Busters on N. Clark Street that's a lot of fun!
If you don't have great shopping in your hometown, and it's your thing, I recommend Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg (Google it). There's also a Medieval Times in Schaumburg which is a Medieval show with jousting and a meal you eat with your hands. I think its a bit hokey, but everyone has a great time, and it's not something you would normally do.
The Schaumburg area is full of great places to eat, if you're not sure what you're going to want, they've go a little of everything from cheap burger joints to 5-star restaurants.
Hopefully that will give you enough ideas to fill your day. If you want more specifics, feel free to send me a message on my page.
