WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@thelostairman Thanks, I feel so much better. . .seeing her hand writing, knowing she's there and digging deep, full of pride. I'm hoping someone starts a Facebook for Ship-11 Div-006 soon! where can I look at the questionaire you were talking about?

Comment by thelostairman on October 1, 2012 at 4:16pm

I wondered that as well. I was in school last year for the holiday with the Air Force. We weren't allowed to go home for Thanksgiving, but we did get a two week break at Christmas/New Years. I know the Navy A school at my base had a week longer at Christmas than us. I would assume it would be the same on Naval bases and AF bases :)

Comment by GSDGirl on October 1, 2012 at 4:08pm

Ok here's a question, SR's PIR is the week before Thanksgiving, he'll be going to A-school in Pen. FL. Do you think they will let him come home for Thanksgiving, or just send him out to FL and no home for Thanksgiving?

From what his recruiter said, he will be able to come home this year for Christmas, which I would rather him come home for instead of Thanksgiving, if given a choice. (I know I want too much for both, lol.)

Just not sure how that works. I do know though if it would count against his time off, he won't come home for Thanksgiving so he has the time for sure for Christmas. (did that make sense?)

@crdn- I'm SO glad you finally got her letter! I know you have to feel so much better

I mailed so much mail today. :) Several letters from last week I was waiting on an address for, plus todays letter, a card and one of those neat questionnaires. The best part of the day for us was always mail call, I hated not getting a letter, going to make sure that doesn't happen to James.

We'll probably drive up from Atlanta. Cheaper on gas than the plane tickets and we won't have to rent a car :)
