WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

thelostairman - Good question! Divisions make up Training Groups. The whole TG PIR's on the same day. The regular numbered divisions are paired into Brother Divisions. F'rinstance...001-002 are Brother Divisions. They will train together and go through their final test, Battlestations 21,together as a final result. They will be on the same training day (DOT - Day of Training) Depending on the number of divisions in this TG it is possible for another set of Brother Divisions to be on the same DOT...but not all of the Divisions will be on the same DOT. The 900 divison stands alone as far as no brother division...but they are doing the same BC as well as practicing their performance duties...so their schedule has to be a bit different. If they happen to have two 900's then they will be brother divisions. Same for 800's. These are recruits with SPECOP contracts. They stands alone unless there are two or more. 800's and 900's will go through Battlestations attached to a set of brother divisions if they do not have a brother divison...or with each other. Ships are the housing for the recruits. Divisions within a TG may be housed on various ships. So, not all of the divisions within a TG are on the same ship. Brother divisions are on the same ship. 900's are always on Ship 02 and 800's are always on Ship 04.

lizza - Did she ask for more info for a security clearance? Did she maybe not get to call from RTC upon arrival?
If not, then she may have just "earned" a call for doing something exceptionally well!
Congrats!

I'm trying to figure out how this works. In the Air Force we have a flight and then several flights make a squadron. Do divisions make ships?

Comment by diannep on September 29, 2012 at 2:05pm

By the way, your group is the first group of the "new" year!  Yes, they just started over so your group is TG 1.  That means, Training Group 1.  The division numbers started over as well.

So welcome to the first group of the new year!

Also, ladies, the mail is held from them for about 2 weeks.  This is so that they can train the Recruit Mail Petty Officer.  So....those of you writing to an address you received from the recruiter, or those who got their form letter already and have written letters....just know that they may not have received them yet.  Their first mail delivery is usually on a Sunday, 2 weeks after they arrive.  This is the "held" mail.  After that, they should have mail delivery M-F.

Also, those using a recruiter's address be sure to doublecheck this with the form letter address (the one your SR wrote in) as there is sometimes a difference.  Letters with the wrong address should still get to them, but may take a bit longer.

Hi, Ladies.  I am another N4Moms veteran on here to help out!  Welcome to the group!

ConnieT:  We don't know how many divisions are in this group yet.  Could be anywhere from 7 to 14 divisions.  Although PIR is 9 - 10:30, you must get there early.  The group that graduated yesterday had 13 divisions.  One of the ladies posted that they were in the car line by 5 a.m. and there were already cars in the line.

When we were there, we took the shuttle from the hotel.  The hotels up there (most of them) use the shuttle service on PIR Day.  These are taxis acting as shuttles that day ($3/pp each way, sailor returns with you if not moving over to GL A School base).  We left on the 6:30 shuttle and were in our seats by a little after 7.  Plenty of people there already.  So EARLY will be the name of the game for PIR day!
