Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I have not recieved a letter yet so I do not know his ship or Division. Maybe I will get something in a few days.I just got his box yesterday. I see some moms that I have been talking to so I will just sit tight and wait.

Our SR's are in the same ship, div!! My SR left on the 18th as well. I am so excited for him, I am betting he picked choir, since he doesn't play an instrument and he liked choir in school.

I didn't know that they perform at two before theirs, now I will have to pay special attention to pictures on FB of the two PIR's before his!!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on September 26, 2012 at 4:57pm: berquis - Your SR is in a "performing" Divison... 900's. Band, drill, choir, flags, ship staff. They perform at two PIR' before their's as well as at their own.
The Ship for 900's is Ship 02. The FFG-57 is the hull number for the real Ship that Ship 02 OS named for...the USS Reuben James. All of the Ships at RTC are named for two naval vessels.
I will be adding some more info like this soon to your group when I can get to the "real" computer!

It is great going back to the old days of actually writing letters. Still looking for anyone from Ship 11 Div 006. @paula can't wait to ask Joshua if he knows Austin.
