For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by SEA's mom on November 9, 2012 at 12:35pm: One other tip-if you are driving or renting a car-be prepared for gas price sticker shock. The Chicago area has had the highest gas prices in the nation for over a year. Expect to pay between 3.50-3.60/gal around the base but over $4 in the city.

They may refer you to a shuttle service/taxis but we have found Sarge's rates to be cheaper...and he gives you extra special care! :-)

kp: Definitely call or text Sarge and let his service help you. We know you will be safe with his group and he gives discounts to Navy families. 847-212-0246 Rave reviews on Sarge and his helpers have been posted. Same about his MeetNGreet! Also, be sure to post in the discussion above....you may want to put the time you arrive also. I would also post the request in your division group above.

I'm still lighting candles everyday: one for Brett and one for my son. So happy to see him getting better!!!!

Comment by DebbiL on November 9, 2012 at 11:54am: Have you checked with your hotel to see if they offer a free shuttle to the airport? Many do, and if not can usually help with getting you transportation. Often, if you arrange through the hotel, you may get a discount and/or use your credit card.
