WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Ladies, please check our injured sailor Brett's update from last night.  YAH!

Thanks so much for the prayers....the family is feeling them, Brett too!  Keep praying!

SEA'smom:  We have heard rates much higher than $40/$45 from GL to airport by cab....even the shuttles were pricey, from what others have posted.  If someone wants to take a cab rather than Sarge's service, then I would guess they would need to call several different cab companies up there and get quotes....

Roxanne:  Sarge and team are very involved right now with PIR day for the 11/09 group and yesterday with getting families to RTC and then his MeetandGreet.  Thurs/Fri's, even the weekends sometimes, are very busy for them.  I wouldn't give up on him.  I agree with what the ladies said here....text him.  But wait until later in the weekend or even Monday.  I just know that Thurs-Sat can be very busy for them with all of the Navy families there for PIR.  I know you will hear back from him!  He may be better about texting/phone calls than emails.

Good Morning All~

I will try all of those suggestions! I just remembered, maybe he was busy with the meet and greet for this weeks PIR! But thank you!

Roxanne, Sarge is really good about responding to all of his message in whatever form, so him not responding to an email seems unusual. Have you tried to send him a message through this site?

As Lala said, you might also send him a text message, but make sure your phone number isn't blocked he will not respond to a blocked number, can't blame him, I wouldn't either.

My son and his buddies still use his service at A School in GL, they say he is the best out of all of them.

Roxanne you might try texting Sarge instead, I have heard he answers those pretty quickly.

Comment by SEA's mom on November 8, 2012 at 11:34pm

Roxanne-depends on your budget. If you order a taxi, figure about $40-45 bucks but they can drop you at the curb which is really helpful at O'Hare (I'm assuming O'Hare, different story for Midway). I don't know enough about the shuttle but I would imagine it would be about the same if it came that far. The taxi's can help you figure out what time you need to leave to be there on time.

Comment by RoxanneShip11Div006 on November 8, 2012 at 11:23pm

Hey ladies! So my biggest concern is getting to the airport on time on sunday. What would you suggest is the best way to go? Should I order the airport express shuttle? Or order a cab? I sent Sarge an email about picking me up from the airport but he hasnt responded yet. My only real worry is making it back to the airport on time.

Comment by SEA's mom on November 8, 2012 at 11:13pm

Jojo -  depending on how much time you have between PIR and when he leaves, you should have time. Downtown Chicago (all the goods spots anyway) are a bit less than 40 miles away but its straight down a main highway. You can check the Metra and probably take the train straight in but you'd need to check.

Parents: I live here about 40 miles west of the city, have for over 20 years, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Cheers!
