diannep-oh he did and he also told me if I had the dates from both the previous divisions then he would be able to help me. I had never gotten the second password because she was struggling to pass her run. She'll only be in this division for about 3 weeks (long story all the way around) so my fingers are crossed she'll be able to get it. We have all weekend to spend with her as we live fairly close to Great Lakes and her A school is also Great Lakes so I'm hoping things go more smoothly. They've been very helpful in the past, I really felt that he was just snarky about the whole situation. I might be a tad sensitive though. I've not seen my SR since August 7. Thanks for the info.
thelostairman: There is a Navy Gateway Inn that is located on the A School base....which is right next to RTC. Only those with military ID can stay in that though...families with sailors graduating can't stay there (if not military), but they can stay at Navy Lodge by using their sailor's name.
Wow....interesting. So sorry about that....did Brian tell you to ask your daughter for the password? Since she wouldn't have written it in a form letter, she may not know it...but hopefully when she makes the I'm a Sailor call, she will have someone close by who knows it and can tell you.
If you take the shuttle to PIR, you don't need the gate pass. If you park at the train station for PIR (right past RTC), you don't need it either...but will pay for parking there. So it won't interfere with you attending PIR. But the gate pass allows you to drive on base when returning your sailor. Otherwise, they walk a little further....it's all doable!
Tried that was told they didn't give it out because I didn't have all the passwords (my daughter has been in 3 different divisions+FIT) and I never bothered with the second one. That was Brian from the public affairs office who said "it wouldn't be a password if we could give it out over the phone".
ahh Thanks Dianne! Makes MUCH more sense now. The AF lodges are on base, so I was completely befuddled.
For those who may be on here with a SR who was asmoed but now in this group, and therefore, received only the first group's form letter with a password for the that group....call the Public Affairs Office and tell them that you need the new division's password....they will confirm who your SR is...so make sure you give them the "old" password from the first form letter and date of that PIR group. 847-688-2405
No, thelostairman. If you are asking if you can go on base at RTC the day before PIR, I don't believe so, even if you are active duty. Navy Lodge is actually about 1.5 miles from RTC. Your gate pass will get you onto RTC the day of PIR...and if your sailor is moving over to GL A School, it may get you on that base too.
But if you're kid's been asmoed make sure you have the previous password or more than one password or you're screwed
I have a question, according to the gate pass we're only authorized to the parking lot? We're staying at the Navy Lodge on base, I'm active duty AF. Is my military ID good enough for getting on base for this? Sorry, this is weird for me, when I graduated basic for the AF, family was allowed on base the day before etc.
