GSDGirl: No question is too crazy to ask on here. So ask anytime!
Good Morning All!
From the this wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Navy_enlisted_rates
The current insignia for Petty Officers came about in 1894, and is a perched eagle with spread wings facing left (usually referred to as a "crow," due to its black color on white uniforms and the outdated dungaree working uniforms) atop a rating mark, with chevrons denoting their rank below.[4]
There are RPO's - Recruit Petty Officees within each Division. They wear a Collar Device. Like ellen stated "crow" equals Eagle.
Here is a post on that:
Here is a chart of the COC at RTC (Chain of Command):
Click to open in another page and zoom.
Here is the link to RTC website that explains all the RPO positions (Recruit Petty Officers):
http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/recruit_petty_officer.asp
Here is a pic of a Collar Device(I belive there are a different number of Chevrons depending on their postition) that the RPO's wear:
On the Chart RCPO(Recruit Chief Petty Officer) = ARPOC, RLPO(Recruit Lead Petty Officer = AROC
But it is too hard to yell... "RRRRCPO or RRRRLPO get your ________ in here"...So ARRRRRRPOOOC and ARRRRROC it is.
These positions are just for the duration of Boot Camp.
We LIKE questions LOL!
Pshaw...I know...I still can't get out of my son what they did on Saturdays in BC...maybe he doesn't WANT to remember!
Thank you diannep!! Sorry for the crazy questions.
I try asking my husband these questions but he says he doesn't really remember much from BC, lol.
...just 901
Thanks FTLW, my son told me that a later recruit gave him some tips and that BC gets easier in the later weeks, less yelling, more PT and training. Which I think is great, and hope my son repays it for some other new SR, which I am sure he will.
So one more quick question, if HIS division messes up, then are all of the 900 divisions in trouble or just 901?
GSDGirl - Yes, the 900's are all on Ship 02. They are integrated divisions male/female, so I would imagine that there might be some mixing of Divisions for berthing in the compartments since each compartment houses 88+ recruits...no wasted space LOL.
I bet LaLa has an answer for that as her daughter was in a 900 division.
Yep, when they first arrive at bootcamp, they are up for over 30 hours....at one point, they sit with their knees in the back of the SR in front of them. They will be up all night again for BattleStations and by the time they can hit their racks, it will be about 38 hours later!
Both answers are correct for the "Sharks"... context as ellen said! The "punishment" and the RDC's are both "Sharks" the RDC's office is called the "shark" tank sometimes.
"Crow"...yes, if you could give us the sentence (no names if any) then that would help. I am leaning towards the "pin" as ellen said.
lemeonelephant actually does not post much on the PIR groups...but you will find her on Boot Camp Mom's and LOTS of other places...she does a lot for the site :-D.
