What has he told you about the experience? My fiance told me they didn't sleep the first 30 hours they were there.. What horror???!! I'm glad he seems to be adjusting even though it is hard.

Hi Dina0106, I got a letter yesterday too!! My son is in ship 14 div 8, for what I gather "sharks" is the nickname for the division commanders...but I don't know if I can post this here; Please veteran moms: lemonelephant any advise?

My son sounded very positive in his first letter.

Yes! I had alot of happy tears! He seems homesick but doing well. He is the yeoman of his division! Praying for those who havnt yet recieved! They are worth the wait!!

Okay doin the happy letter dance!! Yeah yeah yeah!! One was the questionnaire!! :) and then the other stuffed with letters for me and little brother and another with a bunch of our letters. :) says he has been good but was laid up siq for a day and lld for a week from where he had surgery last may from his appendix they think he might have pulled his scar tissue loose some. Hopefully doin better now. No calls about it so keeping with te no news is good news. :)
Hopefully lots of others got letters today too!!

Got a couple of questions for the veteran moms though... What's a crow?? What is sharks??thanks!!

I finally got a letter... He is in Ship 14 Div 8...anyone else have an SR in that division.

YAY, Brittany! Not one, not two, but THREE letters? Good for you! You were SO waiting to hear from your husband. Did you start at the mailbox, crying happy tears for almost 10 minutes before you could even open the envelope, like I did? Hope they were filled with good news and a lot of hugs.

GSDGirl is correct.  Personal items can be given to the new sailors either when you meet them at the airport when they fly out to A School...or....after they have moved over to GL A School base and had liberty the first time....they can return to base with the personal items.

Gabby 64's boy friend is my son...(His first letter out goes to his GF...lol...That's my boy)  We (my wife and I) were so happy when Gabby shared the letter with us..He passed everything so far and got 23 letters in the mail...keep all the letters goin' to our boys/men...they really do appreciate them.

My brothers letter said his RDCS favorite candy is gushers. I going to gift wrap a box to give to the RDC at PIR. :)

For those whose sons cried when they called. I cried at every single phone call but one at AF basic. (and we got one every week) I did fine during the week, but hearing a familiar voice can really push you over. Keep sending upbeat letters, they'll be fine *hugs*
