WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

my SR said someone got cookies, the RDC's ate them in front of everyone while the SR did IT and said "thank you mama" after every cookie.. Ouch...

haha Diannep that is funny!!

My friend was in the Marines and she said that somebody in her squad got a box of cookies, enough for the whole squad, yea it didn't turn out well for him, he had to eat the whole box.

And a friend of my husband was in the Navy back in 92 or so, somebody sent a pack of cig. to a SR, he had to smoke the whole pack!! That didn't turn out so well for him either I guess.

I had thought about sending SR a letter with hearts on the envelope to get back at him for those terrible teenager years, but I thought better of it, lol.

He said in one of his letters today that he gets yelled at for smiling too often, haha. that's my boy always smiling.

Erika:  Funny story. My sailor was there for the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays the year he went in.  "Someone" who was never discovered sent him a food package from a vendor in TX.  No senders name on the package.  When it arrived, the RDCs grilled my son...do you know who sent this?  Do you know anyone in TX?  No to all of the questions.  They made him open it (it was some kind of Christmas candy/food)....took it from him....and later he saw them eating it in their offices!  he got a kick out of that.

But....sometimes they may be forced to eat it all!  So no care packages, ladies!  Letters only!

I got my first piece of non-official mail from my son. He sent me a rosary as well. Note only said love you mom with a hear symbol. I love him so much!

Dianne- thank you. Yes it is very hard. We have been married 3 years on Oct 17. My husband is a little older but is going to OCS to be a chaplain. I am excited, but waiting a little later in life is defiantly a little harder! But the end result will be worth it for sure. I am excited, just ready to see him.

Hang in there everyone, tomorrow should be another great day for letters :-)

Comment by diannep on October 11, 2012 at 9:37pm

Happy for the the calls today, no matter how long.  Hoping those who are sick get better...but the Ricky Crud is very common in bootcamp (the gas chamber seems to "cure" them all  :-)  ).

Brittany:  Awww.....so very sorry.  I know it is so tough especially on the young wives with children.  Hang in there....his hugs after PIR will be so very sweet!  :-)
