Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Large seabag (packed pretty full); garment bag (uniforms) and his carryon Navy backpack.....so you can take extras for him up for PIR but your sailor should only take what can fit into this luggage. Although some in the past have taken an extra suitcase, it is difficult because they are responsible for handling their luggage themselves, no assistance....so keep that in mind. You can always ship him the rest at A School....or....better yet....he should get some Leave for the Christmas holidays should he choose to take it and it is approved (the A School bases go on Stand Down for the holidays). In that case, he can return to A School with his extras after his Leave. Keep this in mind!

I guess it's a good thing that work will have me swamped for the next two and half weeks. I actually need to get my son's "bring to me at PIR" bag packed this week. I am actually thankful to be so busy. I will make the time pass quickly. No call yesterday, but I'm willing to hold out for the "I'm a sailor" call.

I was busy all day and then went to serve at our Church's Harvest Festival. Hubby and I went as Batman and Wyldstyle from the LEGO Movie. Haven't dressed up in years! It was a lot of fun!
