N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Got a letter yesterday from my SR (Ship 3 Div 12) written on 10/11/15. That was the same day that we received our first phone call from him, so the info was pretty much exactly what our conversation had been but it was still nice to have the letter. However, that does let me know that it does take a while for the letters to get to us (about 9 days).

He did ask that we send him a piece of paracord for practicing tying knots. I know that will make a letter look thicker than normal. Does anyone know if that will be a reason for him to get in any sort of trouble?

I added a DISCUSSION up above in the Discussion Forum about "Overflow seating..." for the Chapel at PIR.

It's up there, but here is the direct link as well:

Overflow Guests/Viewing PIR via Livestream at the Chapel information

I made a bullet list of the things that stood out to me and also a link at the bottom to take you to the RTC FB NOTE.

Hope this helps :-)

You can only hope, plantlady!  This whole situation with my grandson was quite a surprise....my sailor is the daddy (now honorably discharged from the Navy)....he made his way back home after a 6 mo stay in TX and met my grandson's mommy....and the rest is history!  Hope you get your wishes!

diannep, yes you are lucky...Only time will tell if my children (now grown) will settle down near hubby and I so we will have the luck of seeing future grandchildren.

Our children have yet to settle down - probably will happen within the next 5 years. Our fingers are crossed that they will be nearby.

Have a fantastic day! As well to all Navy moms...Make it a great day everyone.

plantlady:  He/my son/his mommy live here so I am with him everyday, but have him during the day 3 days a week, her sister takes him 2....and then his mommy/daddy are with him during the other times.  I feel very blessed to have this time with him!

Good Morning diannep,

Do you babysit your grandson every day?

Zkid'smom, if your Army base happens to be one of these

Army

Fort Benning, Ga.: Sullivan Memorial Blood Center
Fort Bliss, Texas: William Beaumont Army Medical Center
Landstuhl, Germany: Armed Services Blood Bank Center
Fort Bragg, N.C.: Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center
Fort Sam Houston, Texas: Akeroyd Blood Donor Center
Fort Hood, Texas: Robertson Blood Center
Fort Gordon, Ga.: Kendrick Memorial Blood Center
Tripler, Hawaii: Tripler Army Medical Center Blood Donor Center
Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.: Fort Leonard Wood Blood Donor Center
Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.: Armed Services Blood Bank Center-Pacific Northwest then you are in with fint. Let me know and I'll sent you the link to sign up to donate as well as to determine if your Army base has appointments available for you. I too would have had to drive over 100 miles, but was ready and willing if I (we) were going to be able to see our recruit. The picture on facebook really didn't matter to us. My hubby has a SERIOUS needle phobia, but was willing to drive the 3-4 hours round trip if we could have had 5 minutes with our recruit. Don't get me wrong, the blood drive is a great cause, but distance and needle issues topped off with not seeing our recruit made the sacrifice less of a draw.
Do let me know if you want me to include any links for you to follow through with the blood donation.

Hey plantlady. My SR mentioned the blood drive. I would really like to do it but the only military base near me is an army base 100 miles away. I wonder if I could go to a blood bank maybe? Also, are we supposed to message the fb page? I'm confused!

Hey All,

An update to my post about the blood drive and seeing my recruit (with possible picture taken together) at the same time I and my hubby would donate. That a big fat NO. Although it sounded too good to be true, I still had my hopes up, but alas there is no such perk to be given. I'm not sure how my recruit could have gotten that information mixed up, but... They are having a blood drive and pictures will be taken of you and hubby and recruit, but not together. They will later post each individual picture (side by side) on the facebook page. Any there was no chance we were going to be able to see our recruit. Love to all. P.S. I was in some serious organise the house mode today and purged a lot of stuff. Feels good to de-clutter. Anyone else lightening their load?

diannep, aww so sweet - grandbaby...got to love their energy.
