N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

plantlady:  I went on the RTC FB page.  I would email Hooyah Jeff for info.  Maybe there is some truth to this?

Here is the comment he posted on there:

Hooyah Jeff Any blood drive questions simply email at jeff.diffy@med.navy.mil and thank you.

plantlady:  Have to say, I have never heard of this---yes, knew about the blood drive that the SRs participate in, but not the families participating.....  I think I would email RTC (email address in your form letter) and see about this.  Please let us know what you hear.

Hannah, WhooHoo...Glad you got the call at just the right time and what a deal his mom was next to you. Congrats. Boy I never would have guessed that a recorded message card would get our SRs in trouble. Good to know.

My SR mentioned a blood drive that the Navy would like our support with. She mentioned that we should try and donate, gave me a facebook page with which to sign up on. Does anyone know anything about this? She seemed to imply that this is an on base event that may result in the chance of seeing our SR so long as we (hubby and myself) donate befor our SR donates? Is someone pulling her strings?

Oh my gosh! I'm glad I thought to ask. That was definitely God. I don't want to get him in trouble.

Hannah:  Not a good idea on the cards that play music.  If they go off when mail is given out to SRs, yikes!  The RDCs could have a heyday with that!  So I wouldn't do that.  Get him one for PIR, or several!  Let him listen to all of that then.

Good Afternoon!

Hannah - YAY on the call! And the timing.

Do not send a card that makes noise or moves.  They'll get extra IT (Intensive Training) for it...AND the whole division could possibly get it. I have a suspicion that somebody messed with him and said it was okay.

Does a little extra IT hurt...never. It's good for them to work out, BUT it could go on for hours depending on the infraction. They get enough "hits" (demerits and IT) for regular boo-boos in BC.

Glitter is bad as well. The stuff is invasive and to hard to thoroughly clean up. They have personal and Compartment inspections and just one piece of glitter could be points off.

Envelopes with stickers or lipstick kisses will draw attention. Some guys will think the IT is worth it though :-D

He called and I was on my lunch break eating lunch with his mom! We got to talk for 20 minutes! He is asking that we send him cards that record messages and ones with music. Are they allowed to get that?
