WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I can't believe it I got my first letter today!! I am so excited. I think the mailman was just as excited as me. My son says all is good and it is definately a culture shock. He mentioned that he has met so many new friends, which of course are your SR's. Want to say thanks to all of you for the info and the support everyday.

It is E! Here is their response to GL "A" School Liberty:

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command #### (I deleted the name), it is standard that weekend liberty is authorized at "A" school in Great Lakes.
Uhhh, hate to be a pill...but what about Friday for the GL "A" schoolers?
Comment by ellen0502 on October 11, 2012 at 2:01pm

I would agree FTLW that the liberty policy will probably remain the same over at TSC for the weekend. It just seems strange that they would post about Thursday, after moving to the TSC side and not the rest of the weekend.

I am going to ask my inside source (lol) late tonight if he can find out about that weekends liberty for me tomorrow.

Thanks ellen, I posted it onto the "After PIR..." PAGE as well.

I agree about Great Lakes TSC Liberty...but we will "keep watch".

I think RTC posted "their" Liberty policy for those two days and then after that it is up to the Sailors new Commands.

Thank you Ellen!

This was just posted by the RTC

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command
At this time the liberty period for those graduating on Nov. 21 is as follows:

Recruits attending "A" school in Great Lakes will depart on 21 Nov and report to their new command. Following normal check-in procedures, they will be authorized liberty
Wednesday, 21 Nov and Thursday, 22 Nov.

Recruits attending "A" school outside of Great Lakes will depart RTC 23 Nov. They will be authorized liberty Wednesday, 21 Nov and Thursday, 22 Nov.

Liberty Fri-Sun for those staying in GL was not addressed at this point, but the question was asked. I will keep looking to see if it will be different than the normal liberty granted for the weekend (I would assume it wont be).

Good morning ladies!!  My son is in division 14 proudnavymom12. Thanks for the info on mailing other SR's letters. What division is your SR in? Mail comes at 11:30 today, will be waiting...

That lady was very smart Craig and that is a great idea Ellen :-) Good morning everyone.

Good morning ladies!

Y'all may want to put a note in your next letter asking your SR to remind or tell the others in his/her division that the graduation date for them is 11/21 NOT 11/23, and to relay that information home to their loved ones.

Since we all know that some of the letters went out with the wrong PIR date, it would be sad if some of those wanting to come to PIR were still unaware that the date was wrong and showed up on Friday.
