OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

SailorMom59 is your PIR date 11/21? If so you would be in the correct place. This is for Div 009 - 018 & 902 with a PIR of 11/21. I'm new in here so I think I got that all right. Welcome!

Thank you for the welcome and the great information! I am not alone! I never recieved the form letter and it will be 3 weeks today. I got the box but no letter . I am tired of stressing about it. I got this far without it and sent letters off today. I will wait another week then see what other options I have to get the password. Getting his adress and landing here in this group today is victory enough to celebrate!

hi, fellow NAVY MOMS!! Am I in the right group? My son went to BC on Sept. 25 and I just received the form letter! Ship 13/DIV 016.

And, does anyone else have a loved one there?

Julia, welcome!

Julia:  Welcome!  Yep, I know about being "asmoed." (setback) My son was too, for a week, when there.  He was aware that a shipmate had "fraternized" with a female and she wrote her number down....the shipmate showed my son the number and my son didn't report it, so he was asmoed for a week.  Sigh....they don't mess around in bootcamp!

Your son is then removed from that division and put into another division.  But my son was "on hold" for a week before being put with another division.  It they have already put your son in this division, then he will be repeating some training.  Mine entered his new division right where he had left off in his previous division.  So not sure which they did for your SR.

You won't get another form letter with the new PIR group/division.  Keep your original form letter since you will need to call the Public Affairs Office with the password from it to get your new password for this group.

I have my official letter...."""HAPPY DANCE""" I woke up so emotional today I didn't think I would last the whole day at work. Now I have my letter, YEA!!! I hope all you mom's who do not have your letters yet get them soon. Now time to wait for the phone call and keep my fingers crossed that my sons date doesn't change.

I think I am in the right group. My son is Ship 12 Div 010 on Nov 21. I do not have the form letter yet, this is info I got from the recruiter. Does anyone know the process to those that get an extra 2 weeks? Does he stay with his original group and do grunt work for the last 2 weeks before graduation or is he moved to a whole new group? For those that are curious he and another "guy talked out of line" in the bathroom and therefore he was given 2 more weeks. I guess he is going to learn the hard way - its all good!

mawhinney,  I can answer a few of your questions,

1.  Most likely his graduation date 11/21/2012.

2.  You will not see your SR until the graduation ceremony on 11/21/2012.

3.  Thanksgiving liberty is a possibility for those going to GL A school.

4.   He will put in the order for his pictures, but he won't do that for a few weeks.  You can write to him, in the meantime, and request that he does do that.   Most SR's order Package A because that also includes a dvd of the PIR ceremony and The Keel (kinda like a yearbook)  and I think the price is running about $170 now?  I could be wrong on the price though.

5.  Yes, definintely send him a calling card, with at least 300 minutes on it.  The pay phones at RDC use a lot of minutes.

6.   He may not receive a letter from you for at least 2-3 weeks.  Their 1st week in processing and then each division have to train their mail petty officer.  That does take some.

I hope this helped.  :)
