Sigh, bayoukatt: Didn't proof my response to you before sending....sorry about that:
Should say that you may want to call back later if they don't answer. I'm not sure how quickly they are returning calls.
mawhinney: Calls from 008-012 should come in this afternoon (usually they don't start before 2 pm GL time), we think! We think they did BattleStations last night. So keep that phone handy!
bayoukatt: Usually someone answers when you call. If not, I think I would call back a little later. You might want to call back a little later if they don't answer. Now sure how quickly they can return messages. PAO is being flooded right now with calls/emails because of the changes in PIR guest list requirements for some groups.
Kellyd: I really don't know. It is possible that the test is today. BattleStations for him is next week.
As far as transportation to PIR, I used the shuttle and loved it. I was on the 6:30 shuttle from Residence Inn, took less than 10 minutes to get there (and there were only 2 others on the shuttle in addition to my son and me)...we had no line at security and were in PIR Hall right after it opened at 7. We had no regrets getting there early and I highly recommend it. Others use Sarge's transportation service to PIR.
We picked the shuttle back up (they are actually taxis operating as shuttles that morning for $3/pp each way, sailor can return to hotel with you usually for free) by the front gate in the parking lot there. My sailor, my son and I ended up being the only ones on that shuttle. We left the base about about 11:30 or a little later.
Others have driven and like that too...but you have to be in the car line early. Sarge knows some "short cuts" to keep you out of the lines, I have been told, so you may want to attend his MeetandGreet for info! He has lots of good hints!
Others park "off base" at the train station (you do have to pay for that) and walk the relatively short distance to the RTC gates. This is especially good if you plan to take the train into Chicago after PIR.
Diannep,
He is in 13/15. So would he be doing his test today?
I'm praying for all of our SR's! I am still praying that God comes through with a plan to get me there from NC, for graduation. But know that I am praying for all of ya'll ...
Dianne may be able to send you the date for when your call should come in. For this PIR group those 12 and under do not need to be on the list. They will still be able to get in :)
Liberty routine depends on where A-school is. Does he have A-school in Great Lakes or somewhere else?
Some people think the shuttle is better and others think driving is better. I think either one works out pretty good. I drove and would do so again if I was there and had a car. I like having more control over when I go and where :)
Okay, I am thinking that would so be my SR to not call home...not necessarily because she is ashamed, but she would keep trying 'til the last possible moment...she was so torqued that she missed "Expert shooter" by one point and felt she let all the females down, she is sooo hard on herself. I think she was more upset about the freak accident that occurred that prevented her from getting it, and I was just so thankful that she didn't get hurt worse.
I too need to accept that she is okay, even though I am suspecting that she has stress fractures in legs and feet (by her description of the pain and bruising). Please God give her the strength to get through these final days!! It definitely is "mind over matter" at this point. Bless you all, I am going to try to preoccupy myself with something else today but will keep all of your SR's in my thoughts and prayers <3
Sorry, wrong link below. Here is the correct one for FIT group:
If they can't try again today, they can on Monday. PRAYERS that they get there!
Join the FIT group and ask on there. Those ladies have all been through this and are a great help to you.

Don't cancel hotel yet. Check their cancellation policy but it is usually up to the day before arrival...or day of.
bayoukat: My sailor son was the same way....wanted to learn all in life the "hard way"...so I know your frustration. But the older they get (he is 26 now), the more they realize that it isn't necessary to learn all that way! Glad you are having some peace right now!
