OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Your recruit will turn in a final list 7-10 days before PIR. Write them ASAP to confirm the list with them. The original form letter will not work. It is the final list they turn in that RTC security makes their master list from.

PLEASE read the FORUM Discussions that I posted the links to carefully. I have outlined what has happened and what to do. I will post it in the Discussion Forum on here as well.

Yay!!  Just got a phone call from my SR, Ship 03 Div 018!!  God Bless America!  He is doing well.  He had pink eye but didn't suffer with the flu or chicken pox.  He sounds great.  God answers prayer!  I've had 3 phone calls from him and I'm overwhelmed with emotion.  Can't wait to see him and all the other SRs at PIR.  We're at the home stretch!!!  They are all doing it!

I emailed the Public Affairs office concerning extras being able to wait in the visitors center.  The reply I received is below:

Ma'am,

Extra guests will be asked to wait in their car or travel back off base.

Respectfully,

Ok. Question. Someone said unless your on the list with your name spelled correctly you wouldn't get in. Well the list I received that my son filled out literally had mom dad grandma and Liz. What do I need to do to ensure I (mom) and my mom (grandma) have no problems getting in. Now I'm worried n freaking out a bit. Lol. :)

Not sure you want to call in light of what FTLW found out...since they have posted it on their RTC website, it is official.  No extras allowed....:-)

Comment by diannep on November 3, 2012 at 10:48am

I agree, Lala, on the extras not getting in.  So hard.  I heard it is because of extra security now...but who knows.  However we can never keep our military TOO safe, right?  Just hard on those with extended family who wanted to be at PIR.

collinsnavygirlsmom:  The rule has always been that extras are not guaranteed entrance, but in the past, they usually got in.  That has not been happening in the past couple of groups, big or small.  They are sending them back to their cars.  You can call RTC directly and ask them...some have done this and are being told NO EXTRAS.  But call and see what you are told and please post here:

847-688-2405

They won't be open until Monday morning. Public Affairs Office.

It still breaks my heart that extras can't get in. I am still hoping that this rule will change soon. You can always take the extras with you and they can wait at the hotel and spend the rest of the day with your Sailor.

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been MIA for a couple days. i was subbing, Thursday was 5th grade and supposed to be the same on Friday and we were going on a field trip but I got moved to 3rd grade so no field trip for me lol. I felt like I forgot my permission slip lol. So busy busy evenings and family here this weekend. I had lots to get done. Now I am working on a Tee-shirt quilt got my Sailor :-) and i have to have it finished and in the mail by Monday YIKES. I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful weekend

CONCERNING EXTRA GUESTS -  Calls were made by the members of the 10/26/2012 PIR group as far as bringing extra guests to PIR and they were told by PAO that it would no longer be allowed.

RTC has updated their official website and their Notes on their Facebook page.

I made a FORUM Discussion regarding the changes along with info about the Security Check List that is made from the Final Access List that your recruit will turn in about 7-10 days before PIR.

Here is the Direct Link:

EXTRA GUESTS - Will NO LONGER BE ALLOWED into the GRADUATION (PIR) ...

daughtersbf,  I believe I have seen on this website and the RTC website that no "standby" type seating will be allowed.  If you're not on the list with your name spelled correctly, you're not getting in. :(

Comment by collinsnavygirlsmomSHIP14,DIV013 on November 2, 2012 at 9:17pm

Diannep and KristineLynn:  I thought that the groups that could not have extras were the ones that they sent the messages out for.  Specifically the PIR 11/30/12 has fifteen divisions I have not seen a message for our PIR stating that extras would not be allowed, there was another group but I cannot remember which one it was.  We have had a couple letter from Captain Dye, I would have thought that he would have added that if it was an issue...might want to do some more investigating before you leave grandma at the hotel :) If you send them a message on Facebook, it appears as if they respond.
