Pinkladybug::
Hi Ladies, I received a rather lengthy letter (7 pgs) from my SR yesterday...she has been on LLD for 11 days :( please pray that she was release FFD on Monday!! She had been to the classifier and chose her top 3 ships, duty stations, and overseas locations. She sounded great even though the frustration of LLD was waring on her. She said she was GLAD to be at BC (are you kidding me?), missed all things about FALL, has daily compliments that she has the shiniest boots in her division (that must be where that toothbrush went.lol) and the food is FREAKIN' DELICIOUS (say what?). Hope this brings a smile to your face, I actually did lol at that one :) She also talked about their divisions upcoming inspections for this week...I was just on the RTC FB site and there are close-up pics of male recruits during inspections today!! Enjoy searching for your SR's in the background moms :)
KristineLynn, You should have a pretty good idea how long your mail takes to get to your SR. Count on the last time that they will be receiving mail as Wed, although I believe they still get mail on the Thursday before PIR. They do not get mail on the Friday.
Any mail they don't receive while in BC will be forwarded to them at school (although delayed).
With PIR less than 3 weeks away (so excited) When is the last day to send them letter so they get them in time??
jenniferb: So glad that you all are ok. My heart aches for what those people are going through...and to have the fire that destroyed over 100 homes on top of that....insult to injury. I hope that help is arriving now to, most importantly, make those affected understand that they are not alone and have help to get through this. This was so important to us after Hurricane Andrew. Our area looked like it had been bombed...you couldn't even recognize streets....we were under curfew with the National Guard checking ID to get into the area during the daytime---for a very long time. I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to see the "first responders" come into town to help....and the "community spirit" that developed in our neighborhoods was powerful....open door policy for each of us for whatever anyone needed. Two police officers stopped by to make our mailbox functional again a week or so later--no mail delivery for about 2 weeks after the storm (they brought a wood post from a broken wood fence to mount the box on). Our sons were only 6 and 8 yrs old and will never forget that...even got a ride in their patrol car...with lights on!
There will be such wonderful blessings amidst the horror of what happened. But for now...they need help and lots of it! Prayers for all of them...happy that my community sent up over 500 of our power company workers to help...
Will have update on Brett later tonight. He is in surgery...again...today to hopefully close up his stomach. Thanks so much for continued prayers!
Thankfully Hurricane Sandy is gone. My family is very blessed. We live about 1 hour north of the NJ beach area which is totally decimated. We never lost power and are extremely grateful considering what we are seeing on the news. Total devastation. Thanks to all those praying for us in the storm's path. Continued prayers for Brett & his family. Special thanks to diannep for keeping all of us updated. Pray for those who lost so much from the storm.
Hoping to get another letter today. This will be my 3rd one. I would love a phone call it would make the 20 days go better, and faster......... November 21st can not come soon enough
Yayyy thanks for the clarification Lala Ribbon Queen. I like the light at the end of the tunnel scenario. I'm sure our S.R.'s like it too. :)
