Really concerned that our Sailor hasn't called yet to tell us when his liberty is tomorrow... not sure what to make of it.

Kirsi and mrehm -  Are your Sailors "fly outs"? Meaning attending A school anywhere other than GL?

If so, did they get to have PIR day (well, besides watch :-() and Thanksgiving for Liberty?

I am sorry they had watch. It does happen to the new Sailors sometimes that remain at RTC (if that's where they are).

I'm assuming that she is over at GL A School since you said you waited 3 hours for her.  Liberty over there "normally" ends at 10 pm.  Since it is 5:30 up there right now, seems that she could have some liberty if she is done with watch.  But watch is usually 4 hours long, I believe.  So maybe she is not done yet?

Comment by diannep on November 21, 2012 at 7:40pm

mrehm:  If you haven't heard from her, she must still be on watch?  Is she staying in GL for A School or flying out on Friday?

Hope many of you are already on base, walking over to the PIR Hall.  The rest of you?  Hope that you are at least in line!  :-)

Enjoy this very very special day.  Have Kleenex ready.  When that big door opens, it is quite a sight seeing all of the sailors revealed, marching in!

For those waiting for the I'm a Sailor calls yesterday, I hope they finally came in....but if not, hope you are able to spot your sailor right away as he/she marches in!

For those not able to be there, hoping for some very special phone calls today!  But remember, your sailor is allowed to go off base for liberty too...on the buddy system.  So if the call comes later today, understand that this could be the reason why.  They have been cooped up on that base for a long time and can't wait to get outside to some "civilian" life again.  In fact, it is quite shocking to them at first!  My talkative son became totally silent as we drove on the shuttle off base...just looking at everything!

Thanks so much for the directions. I know exactly where you are directing me. We drove around quite a bit yesterday and I was just confused with the 84000 gates and entrances! LOL!
A BIG thank you to NavyForMoms for all the of helpful information and being there to help us newbies get through this! Words can't even express how much you help us (and CALM us!).
I just had another sign a contract last week and it DEP until July 23 next summer. (He is a Senior this year) So we will get to do this again next year!!

Again, I know it is not much, but BIG HUGS to those of you who were not able to attend. I pray that you will be able to see your new Sailors at A school or during Christmas if they take leave.
