The toothbrush could be for shining and polishing her boots as well as the "head" :-)

You're a good mom collinsnavygirlsmom! I agree with LaLa...try not to worry too much.

You could stomp around a bit though or whack something for a while Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net. Oh, or have good cry. "Shower Therapy" I call it...very hot and long until the water turns cold. I do the crying in there...much tidier!

DO BOTH! LOL

Is anyone planning to rent a car in Chicago? If so and you have not reserved it yet let me know. I may be able to help you get a cheaper price. I use rentals cars from priceline quite a bit and I have received several emails from them for renting a car in Chicago for only $20 a day. I think it would work for me to email you the discount coupon link so if anyone  needs to rent a car and wants to give this a try let me know. We always use Priceline for renting a car through Enterprise and always get a lower rate. This past weekend it saved us close to $200 for a 5 day rental. So always check priceline and compare that price with the companies price.

normally they will not ask for things to be sent to them unless they have been told that they can. I'm not sure why she asked for them and then changed her mind but either way it should all be fine. They may just throw it out or them may let her keep it. And even if she has to do some pushups or something it still won't be bad. I'm sure she will laugh about it later :-) Try not to worry.

Thanks Lala.  I should have trusted my gut feeling that she would not be able to have it...but instead, I jumped to her request and rushed it to the P.O. and sent it priority... I had confirmation that it was received at Great Lakes first thing this morning, hope that her Petty Officer was feeling rather generous this Monday morning :) I'm not sure what happened to her toothbrush...wait, I don't really even want to think about that one (clean latrines??l), I know she was desperate for some shampoo as well.  I will make just have to make sure that I have a nice stock in the hotel room during PIR!!  <3 Navygirls momma

That's too bad collinsnavygirlsmom, I hope they change their mond and let her lock it up to  use for PIR. My Sailor didn't have make-up for pictures and she was so pale from being inside that she doesn't even look like herself in the bootcamp pics. We didn't like them at all so we took our own when she came home the first time. I have my fingers crossed that she gets to keep those items.

Just got a very short "note" from my SR apologizing for the inconvenience and asking that I not ship the few make-up and toiletries that she requested last week!  ugh...make-up was items that she could have on the list, then it came back in "the box", she was told that she could have them shipped from home, I have already shipped and now she has been told she will have to throw away when it gets there.  These ladies have had to be innovative and creative as they hardly ever have toilet paper, and were told that they will not have time to go to NEX...total frustration!!  I should have put some feminine supplies in that box and maybe they would change their mind.lol  Sandusky has way more privileges in prison than our kids that have made huge sacrifices :(  Very angry army wife/navy mom

Hi everyone, we made it home late last night from VA Beach. We had a great time visiting our Sailors but just not enough time spent with them. Hurricane Sandy was a pretty big concern so we came home a day early. Now expecting snow here at home. Could be just a trace and some areas 7 to 10 inches. It all depends on which "expert" you listen too lol. I hope you all are far away from the storm and if you are in it's path please be safe. You all are in our prayers. And, many prayers fro Brett Diannep, keep us posted.

Good Morning Ladies.  Thanks so much for the prayers for Brett.  No update today yet...any time now we are expecting it.

Specific prayers today for Brett:

That infection will subside now in his leg.  No more infection in his body.

That he will be able to keep his leg!

That they will be able to close up the abdominal incision this week and remove the ventilator--pray that he won't have to have the tracheotomy that they are planning at this point...

pray that he is finally ready for surgery to repair other damage in his leg...

Pray that they are able to reduce his sedation again so he is more alert and aware....

Thanks so much!  Please pray for Greta and Susan, his mom and pregnant wife....who are there for him constantly.  By the way,  I saw a post on the caringbridge guestbook from a Jacksonville Navy spouse who has recruited other Navy spouses in the area to help Susan with babysitting (they have a 16 mo old) and any errands she needs done at her home.  So wonderful!  I know they appreciate so much all of the love and prayers sent their way!

I was privileged to see Brett/Susan/son Jason in July down here in Miami.  I was at a party at his mom's house....with all family members there (large family,  very close to each other).  Brett was in the pool with his 16 mo old son Jason...I was remarking that he has no tatoos on his body...his comment was that tatoos were not his thing...I was thinking last night of the scars that he will now have on his formerly unblemished body...but quickly realized that would be a very small price for him to pay in order to have restored health!  So praying hard!
