WELCOME to PIR 11/21/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Debnchris I totally understand what you are saying. I get teary eyed reading some of these posts but most give me peace which I am thankful for. I'm not so sure how he's gonna like it which increases my anxiety to know how he's doing. I hope we get letters very soon. I even have my home phone forwarded to my cell so I won't miss a call. Yes I am going to the meet n greet. We are traveling with our toddler so kinda nervous about that but it will be all worth it to see my son. My baby misses his big brother and I know my son misses his lil brother. He said that was the hardest part for him leaving his lil brother.

Yep:  By training week #4 (which is about bootcamp week #5 for most), the breaking down period is over and they start getting built back up....it is a nice positive change that you will see in their letters and phone calls.  You will love the maturity you see in them on PIR Day...but you will also love that they are still the same "people" that you sent to bootcamp.... still themselves...just "sailor-ized!"  :-)

@ beckybec My son is with your son.  I too have not heard anything.  I go up and down.  I read all the exciting letters that some are getting and I love it.. I hear about the homesickness and the yelling and I cry.  I would love to know if he loves it or not.  I have a feeling he will and I hope that I am right.  Maybe this week we will get a letter.. Are you going to the Meet and Greet?

So this is the start of the 4th week I got the box I got the form letter and let me not forget the call he made it there. I am pretty sure some time this week my phone is going to ring with at least with the Im still alive call. I know he is doing okay I just miss him a lot!!We are looking forward to flying up. Its right around the corner. One thing I did look up a lot of you tube videos of others who went threw BC before and they all said the first four weeks they break you down and the last four they build you up and some even said they was sad it was over in a way because they learned so much in such a short period of time. and had so much respect for the rtds. GO NAVY!! ((Ship 2 DIV 902)))

I keep telling myself that no news is good news. But man I really would love a letter. Just anxious to know how he's doing. I know that my son has a mouth but hoping he keeps it shut. Lol... Anybody in ship 13 div 16 get a letter yet? Just trying to see maybe if one may be coming soon or not.

GoNavy:  They have mail call M-F once they get their first delivery (usually on a Sunday after it has been held for about 2 weeks while they are training the Recruit Mail Petty Officer).

I agree with what Lala and Betsy have said about the division not getting it together but will get it together.  In fact, I just finished posting on another PIR group where someone was complaining of the same thing.  Very common....no worries, although it can be frustrating sometimes for them.  But they work it out!

Vickik: my son also left on 9/27 and I haven't rcvd anything.
