Welcome KathyS and that is so smart!

I haven't posted but am thankful for the opportunity to read everyone else's questions and concerns....much the same as my own! We booked a room at the Holiday Inn express Tuesday through Saturday morning. It is supposedly "only" a 7 hour drive from where we live so we are just going to drive so we don't have to mess with flights and rental cars. I think I'm going to cook Thanksgiving dinner and bring it with us in a cooler and just reheat in the room's microwave. I guess that is an added bonus of driving!

ArizonaMom;  They start the dental procedures during processing days, but not all may have theirs completed then---some have theirs "watched" and may not have them out until A School if necessary.  Some have had it done after BattleStations if necessary.  So, no, there is really no specific time to do this.  Hopefully he is having his done during processing days and you will get a letter or division call from him saying he is fine.

Good Morning!

angee925,

If anyone on the original list can't make it to PIR, your SR will make final changes to the access list about 1 week before PIR~~

Nick's Mom,

Yep, no overnight liberty at all.  They have to be dropped off in plenty of time to be back by their curfew, which will be different for the divisions, then picked up the next morning.  Your Sailor will let you know~~

That's gotta be an uneasy feeling for a mom. I'm sure he will be fine but I'm praying for you and your son Arizona mom, it sucks not being able to be there for the big things or the little things. The unknown is not a good feeling during boot camp.

Thank you diannep. Do you know if there is a certain time during bootcamp that they do dental procedures? Everyday, I wonder if "today is the day".
Comment by diannep on October 15, 2014 at 11:26pm

No, ArizonaMom.  He will not get to call you right after he has them out...although they could get calls at anytime as a division.  This is a very common procedure at Bootcamp....I'm sure it will be fine!  He will have a couple of days of SIQ (sick in quarters) and medication after the procedure.

Does anyone know if my son will get to call me when he has his wisdom teeth pulled? I know he will be fine, I just wish I could be there for him. He has never had stitches, broken a bone or had any surgeries. In face he has never really been sick.

No overnight stays allowed during Liberty, not even for those staying for A School in GL.  When my sailor was up there, curfew on PIR Day was 8 pm, but since his division was Hall of Fame, they didn't have to be back until 9.  The sailors will be advised when they need to be back and they cannot be late!  My son made us take him back 45 min before curfew because like HoneyBeeQueen said, they have to have time to walk back to their ships which takes a while.
