Yay booked my flights and rent a car, just need to book a place to stay. I hope nothing changes because I got a non refundable ticket because it was the cheapest one
Soooo glad to help! That's what we are all here for--to help each other down this Navy path~~
Thank you to everyone who advised me about travel plans. I just booked Southwestern into MKE (cheapest) and Budget rental car and Courtyard Marriott! Whew! Now hope there is no reason to cancel! See you all on Nov. 26th :)
Gals,
Since you are all bumping up against a big holiday, I'm just gonna post the rental car part I talk about in my Pertinent PIR Tips. Hope it helps!
1. Being from Southern California and out of the area, I opted for the IPASS to save time and didn't mind that I was paying more than actual tolls. The non toll roads were a little farther out of the way. So, if you're renting a car, be sure to also rent the IPASS which allows you to be on the 294/94/90 toll roads without having to pay for every toll stop and having exact change. This route is the direct route to Great Lakes. If you realized you missed any tolls while you are there, you can pay them within 7 days of incurring them before you get a big bill. The IPASS was only $6.95 each day from Enterprise Rent-a-Car. I reserved using an upgrade coupon #ASTMCUG.. Call 866-502-1257 if the online system won't take the coupon. It's good until 12-31-2014. Their customer service was outstanding and their vehicle was very clean. All their vehciles go through their car wash before being rented again. Their shuttle pulled right up to the Ground Transportation median at the airport.
I have a good eye, don't I?? I'm full Chinese, born in the USA!!
Nice pic, chowdercall911~~ Are you Asian, you look like you could be~~.
Nancy: When my son was up there, he got delayed a week. I had already purchased my tickets through a major airlines (not Southwest...didn't know about them then). Once he was training again, I cancelled and rebooked....had to pay the $150 per ticket (2) fee, but the fare actually was cheaper with the new dates. Can you fly Southwest from your hometown? Either into Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ depending on traffic)? That is your best bet since there is no change fee involved with them, 2 bags check for free.
StacieR: I bet your cooking will never taste as good as it will to her on this Thanksgiving Day! We stayed at Residence when we were up there....very nice. You will enjoy it! Pet friendly too!
