Good morning everyone. We made Thanksgiving reservations at the Lakehouse. It is pretty close and they did not have a lot of openings so we opted to eat early so he would have time to relax for the rest of the day. Praying for all of our SR's!

KathyS,

I know so exciting, I'm so nervous. I just want him to call and give me the exciting news.  Glad to hear of the positive letter you got from your son. Not sure how it was for you but for us it was a sense of relief that he was up beat and gave us words of encouragement, like he knew that we felt helpless not be able to talk to him or know if he was reading the letter we sent to cheer him up. Like you said 1 more week and they will be in our arms and we will all be happy and proud of every single one of them as the enter Ceremony Hall.

Hi CatMom509,

Were staying at the Homewood Suites and they have a kitchenette with two burners just no oven :( Wish I could of baked him a turkey. My hubby is looking around on what to do on Thanksgiving. He was looking to purchase an already cooked Turkey but we would have to pick it up on Wed since they are closed Thanksgiving. Were just worried if we have a flight delay we may miss on picking the meal up. So now he's looking for somewhere that will be open to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal for our family. If not then I can whip him up some of mamas homemade stew which he's already requested I make :)

Finally, after three weeks, a letter!! He sounded upbeat and positive, and very confident - which is a bit of a change for him :).  He said he will call on Thursday (which is today) because he needs grandpa's middle name for the guest list.  My phone is typically off at work, but it will sure be on today and until I get the final call!  I am thankful for everyone's positive comments and prayers, and really praying that his PRT goes (or would it be went at this point??) okay! It's exciting to realize that in one week from today, PIR will be behind us and we'll be hanging out with our sailors!  So many reasons to give thanks!

Navymom627,

How yummy for your Sailor to get your homecooking again!  Are you only cooking everything on the stovetop?  Because if you need an oven, your hotel kitchenette may not have one.  Please check with your hotel to make sure~~

Yes, you are right, Navymom627!  You will have lots of time with your new sailor since he is staying in GL for A School!  He will move over there shortly after PIR is over, which takes a few hours....he will call you to pick him up there.  You will have Daytime Liberty with him Wed - Sun !  He must return to base each night, but still lots of time to explore the area and enjoy!

Hellos ladies, I have only looked at my sons division group page and I started going through to the other division groups to find out and catch up with what my son maybe going through. I had never scrolled down enough to see the comment wall for everyone. I'm not to computer savy, I leave that for my hubby. I've been reading and it's so exciting we are all close to being with our future Sailors! By the way my son is on Ship 13 Div 22. I sent him a letter today but I'm thinking this maybe it until we see him next week. My hubby sent him inspiring words last week so he could get it in time for battle stations, and today's letter was to say we were praying for him and how proud we were of his sacrifice. Not to mention I got his requests from his last letter that I will be cooking all his favorites. He stays in GL for A school so we should have time to see him a lot..... We hope.

Hmmm, interesting, Stacie.  The only thing I can think of....BattleStations is an overnight drill so they start one day and finish the next.  So could that account for the 2 different dates?  They only do 1 BattleStations per division.

chowdercall:  That is a great purchase for those who live where there is snow or visit snow regions alot.....but Bookster and I are here in S FL.....it has only snowed once here in all of the years that I have lived here (family has been here since the early 1900s) and that was back in the 70s, but it never "stuck" to the ground!  Melted in the air!  So purchasing snow attire just would be a bit of a waste for people like us unless we could use it elsewhere---other than one time at PIR.  Maybe Bookster should also book a ski trip to Colorado....THEN it would be worth the purchase of snow attire!  :-)
