Cryptodad,

Are those Challenge Coins from your own personal collection??  How cool!!

Bananabear- I am renting from Enterprise. I used the coupon that CatMom posted in the Pertinent PIR tips which is above these posts. It saved me a lot! The coupon gave me a free upgrade and 10% off! When I looked at the reviews for Thrifty, they were not that great. I am flying into Midway as well, I think my rent is $188.00 for 4 days.

Looking at renting a car.  The cheapest seems to be from Dollar.com and Thrifty.com and I am not familiar with these companies.  We are flying Southwest into Midway.  Does anyone recommend either of these two?

Terces,

Yes, wait until A school graduation. Let's not tempt fate. The web address is the same as the one CatMom509 alluded to: www.pirgifts,com.

Bookster,

Money for coins, plaques and misc awards has been removed from the budget. We've given our Sailor coins for all the big milestones, like advancement in rate. This is something the Navy never did anyway.Commanders used to hand out their personal coins to Sailors as tokens of appreciation. Gone.Doing something really noteworthy could get a coin, Gone. A special event like the commissioning of a new ship warranted a coin. Gone.Impress your Chief and get a coin, Gone. Sure, coins given within the armed services have greater value, but the number crunchers at the Pentagon don't understand things like tradition and morale. So you do what you can.

Cari:  I know she will be disappointed that she doesn't have Liberty overnight while staying in GL for A School. A few years back, they allowed overnights for those staying in GL for A School but did away with that.

Bookster:  When they receive the coins from their Command personnel, it is always a great honor.  But during Bootcamp, it is nice to give them the one for their ship....a gift from parents/family/friends.

Thank you chowdercall911. That is what I have been reading. When she called me last Friday she said she had liberty Fri-Sun overnight. Thank you for clearing this up for me! Easier to plan! lol

Im reading how they give these coins from within the Navy. Is it more inportant to the recruit to receive it from somebody else on board vs their parents?
Comment by Bookster on October 28, 2014 at 10:12am
Do you get them a different one each time (not right wording I am sure) they go up a level?
