as far as ID, drivers license are fine? or do we need things like passports? oh my gosh I cannot wait!!!!

rj01:  Totally understand that you are trying to do a favor for others.  Its just that RTC asks all to be very mindful of OPSEC and want all to be careful.  Yes, names wouldn't be on the list, correct, but it is just an err on the side of caution warning.  There are alternatives that I had mentioned in earlier posts that allows them to get on base including taking the shuttle or parking off base.  But thanks for trying to help!

Good Morning!

Safe travel for those heading to GL today.  Enjoy Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight!

Driving hint for PIR Day:

Stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC).  Car line waiting to get into RTC will be on your right.  Bypass RTC....turn around at the train station which is right past there.  Head back from opposite direction, easy left turn onto base, no waiting!

Be early to PIR tomorrow!  You won't regret that.  You can check out seating options within your division section.

And, have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your new sailor!  With someone in the military, those holidays are even more precious when you can spend them together.  My son missed 3 Thanksgivings, including one while in Bootcamp, when in the Navy.  So treasure this precious time!

Well they wouldnt be allowed inside if their name isnt there anyways. But ok just trying to help.
Comment by diannep on November 25, 2014 at 12:43am

Correct, Bookster.  I know people are trying to help others by printing out extra gate passes, but that is true:  It is a security issue.  No one should feel they will miss PIR because they don't have the gate pass.....they can park off base at the train station, right past RTC, or take Sarge's shuttle (or the area one) and not need the pass.

Comment by Bookster on November 24, 2014 at 11:34pm
I'm not sure who mentioned they had extra car passes but that's not safe is it? Please don't give them out. If we ARE the parents of a SR we should have received the proper paperwork giving us all the information we needed to get on the base. We could be anybody with bad intentions pretending to have a child there. Keep our kids safe. Don't share the pass :((((
