For those asking to join the facebook group. It looks like several found the wrong group. The one that has "new" in the title is not our group. Our groups usually have a lot more members as well. We have had the PIR groups for about 3 years at least and we have several admins who all have sailors and we closely monitor the groups. We do our best to make sure all those asking to join have a recruit in that PIR group. Our group is private and no one can see anything posted there unless they are a member of that group. But no matter what group or anyplace online don't post any personal info and always obey OPSEC. Here is the link to your facebook group :) Just remember to always stay active on this group as well.

Bookster-- many have also booked hotels with Kitchenettes to make our SR's Thanksgiving meal. There are grocery stores near by. I just want to make it whatever my boy wants.

I think, due to the holiday, that I may be traveling up the GL alone for PIR.  Is anyone else traveling alone?

Can we go to skydeck or the bean? I think its 40 miles away?
Comment by Bookster on October 20, 2014 at 9:56am

oh no.  okay major re-planning needed then! What are some of your plans if you do not mind sharing?  Or is it better to just not have any plans so they can just sleep and relax in our hotel room?

Joining just to add: Yes, there is a 50 mile liberty limit on PIR weekend.  A two hour trip is a no go, sorry.

CatMom where do I go to see your Tips? I thought I was very computer savvy but let me tell you this website is proving me wrong :)

We were thinking if our son did not have any duties on Thanksgiving we would drive to visit family in Michigan (2 hours from graduation) eat Thanksgiving meal with them and then bring our sailor back to base BUT I just read somewhere that there is a 50 mile limit to where they can go?  please advise if you know anything on this.

addgrey:  You can also contact Sarge and ask him about the restaurant.  He knows the area well:

ddgrey:  Haven't heard about that restaurant for Thanksgiving Dinner.  Maybe you can google some feedback blogs from others who ate there in previous years and see what kind of reviews they give?  You may be able to ask about it at your hotel also.
