Good morning everyone, I am one of the veteran moms who stuck around after my Sailor had PIR more than 4 years ago to help you all get through the boot camp experience. I am also the mom who makes the ribbons for PIR that you see in my profile picture. If you have any questions or concerns please let me or one of the others like me know. You can always post questions to this wall and one of us will see it and answer as soon as possible. You can also send me a friend request if you like. Many of you may already know me because I am also an admin for the original facebook PIR groups. If you are in that group please be sure and come to this page daily if possible. There are members here who just don't do facebook and there are members on facebook that don't use this site. So, to be able to connect with as many people as possible try and be active in both :) Also, don't limit yourself to meeting just those from the same division. Once boot camp is over your sailors will be heading to A-school with others from all the different divisions and you may know some of their moms/families as well. I know right now it seems like graduation/PIR will never get here but even though the days drag by the weeks do seem to pass quickly and before long you will be packing and ready to go to see your new sailor. We all know and understand how you are feeling because we have been through it with our own sailors. No one understands like another name mom :) Welcome aboard. We are so happy you found us.
Good Morning!
Yes, in past PIR groups, they write both their N4Moms name and real name on the nametag for identification purposes!
Tammy: So when you spoke with your SR, he didn't know his ship/division numbers yet? I can get you the mailing address, but need those numbers. The recruiter should have them.
addgrey: I would definitely love to meet you all at
Sarge's party!!! I'll write MommaJ on the name tag, or possibly have the Ship and Division number on something(?) Maybe if there is a "reserved" card on any of the tables...we can figure it out...we have 38 Days, 1 Hour and 5:34 seconds left! :) YAY!!!
Good morning ladies! I wasn't able to get to a computer yesterday, but saw all of the posts :) I thought I was going to have to call my SR's PO and let them know she was grounded because Daddy, little brother, AND Grandma all got letters Friday...but none for good old mom!! She was saved though, on Saturday I got a 2 page letter :) As with all of your SR's, she's doing well, a few struggles, but overall enjoying the whole process. We got a phone call, yesterday, too. A LOT fewer tears this time!! Thank you all, for keeping us in the loop, even if we can't respond right away!!
I saw a post somewhere from someone who went to the meet and greet and was disappointed because she could not associate the names of people with people who had posted here. I am thinking it would be great (assuming we have name stickers?) if we wrote our NavyforMoms usernames on our name tags along with our names?
Ship 11 DIV 024, phone call :)
chowdercall: I know you made lots of ladies happy on here by confirming from RTC FB that for sure they have both PIR Day and Thanksgiving Day with their sailors! No flights out until Friday.
If anyone wants to pass off a few civilian clothes to their sailors, it must be done at the airport. They have limited space in their luggage, which includes: Seabag, Garment Bag (uniforms), and a Navy-issued backpack. But if they have a couple of fav items that they can't wait to wear once they phase up, I'm sure they could squeeze them into this existing luggage. The rest, as chowdercall suggested, can be shipped to them when they have phased up.
For those staying in GL for A School, bring the clothing if you can up for PIR weekend. They should be able to return each night after Liberty with personal items. They also need to phase up to wear, but can have the clothing there waiting when the time comes. Saves on shipping later.
