Yeah NS my husband was all about the pictures too. But I heard some RDCs were weird so it's hard to know at first.
Speaking of mail, did anyone else's SR say anything about the weirdness of the mail? Mine said he is getting everything way out of order... and he hasn't received anything except 1 letter from his parents who have been mailing him things for almost 3 weeks now!

Dramaboysmom- It really depends on the RDC I guess. On the phone last Friday my boyfriend (Div 042) said to keep sending pictures! Interesting how different each division is! Try sending them on paper from the printer and just copy and paste them onto it and include it in the letter. That's what I did at first until I found out it was okay to send actual pictures. Good luck though!

Lorriemi- Do you mean sending the prints directly to him instead of shipping them to you and then to him? If so, I don't think so I think it has to be shipped seperately like put them in a manilla folder or a card.

Yay! Got another letter from the SR> He is very grateful for any mail he is sent. He stressed no pictures. Said there is trouble for any photos even if they are on the letter. Said he had to laugh at the kids from Florida, California and Puerto Rico were totally freaked out by the snow. Wanted to know why there was salt on the ground.
Keep sending them letters of encouragement. SR said they are the highlight of the day, because it happens at night. ( hardy har har!!)

When I talked to my recruit on Dec 3rd they were Week: 2 Day:6 So that puts them in their third week.

Week Three - In a hands-on environment, this week you will learn first aid techniques, signalling with flags, the proper procedure to board and disembark a ship, and basic seamanship. You will do this training on a real ship situated in a large hangar. Your first PT (physical training) test is administered during week three, the areas tested are 1.5 mile run, push-ups and sit-ups. This is often called the PT0, because it is the starting point from which you will improve.

^ got that from a website I found prior to him leaving that his recruiter told us about.

Again anyone from Ship 12 Div 042 join the new group so we can easily read and follow along!..

5.Week Five - More classes, more training, and a lot more PT. By this point you've learned how to do everything the way the Navy wants you too, and though you may not feel like it -- you've changed. Rigorous training and a restricted diet, a fast paced and active training style in and out of the classroom, and a behavioral structure deeply rooted in forming a team bond between you and up to 100 total strangers have all contributed to your change, and in most cases this change is for the best.

And the address on the manilla envelope has to be to your recruit specifically and you really have enough time that if you get a call or if you write today you might be able to get your recruit to send you a list of names...lol...well...maybe...those who have girls will have better luck at that...lol
Comment by Lynne on December 8, 2010 at 1:28pm
You cannot send a box...you will have to send envelopes, like a manilla envelope full of cards...
