Thank you ladies for all your help. I am positive that I will get the adopt a sailor form, and the PAO office said it was allowed to be a little late (after the 15th) so I know I'll be safe. I am going to be taking my husband and JudieK's son, his girlfriend NS is going to take the trip with me. We are both so excited. This is going to be the best Christmas ever, I know it is, I have faith in God that he will have his hand in all of this (=

I talked to my son last night. He is a grad & go. He will have only Friday to be with us and we can see him at the airport Sat am then he is off to A school in TX. So it sounds like they are all different. I think it is very individual. Only your SR knows his exact orders.....and if he has been at BC for two to two and half weeks now he probably knows. Only problem is ......when does he get to communicate it. :)

Thanks Tamme! That is awesome. Now I just have to pray that everything goes good and he is on track for PIR 01/14/10. Unfortunately anything can happen. I am trying to think positive thoughts!

Your SR will be able to tell you their weekend privileges. They cannot go more than 50 miles for sure though. Whether they have to go back to the base each night with depend on the person in charge at the A-school they will transfer to Friday after PIR. If they are grad and go but not leaving until Sunday or later, I'm not sure who is in charge of their liberty for the weekend. I just called about the Martin Luther King Day and they said they will be closed and we can have our SR (Sailors at that time) through Monday. Yeah!!!!

Forgot part of my question...if you get your SR after PIR do they have to spend the weekend no further than 50 miles from the base or can we take her home for a day? We live 3 1/2 hours away.

Does anyone know about Monday January 17th it is a holiday (Martin Luther Kings Bday) not sure if that make a difference or not. Just thought maybe they might have that day off too to spend with family. I know that is just crazy talk, but a Mom can dream can't she?
Comment by nicksmom on December 7, 2010 at 3:11pm
I am pretty sure that you get the rest of Friday. Saturday and Sunday 8-8

Here is a quick question for anyone that can answer it. As long as my SR is not a grad and go, how long do we have with her after PIR. Is it just that day and have her back that night or do we get her for longer? Need to make hotel reservation and need to know when to check out. Thank you for any help.
