Happy Thanksgiving ladies! Don't forget to burn your blue candles and pray for our recruits, I'm sure they are missing you as much as we miss them (if not more, because they wont have mama's cookin')

I know my family started a tradition for our family members in the military, every family gathering we brought either a blank card or card pertaining to the holiday and had EVERYONE sign it and give a word of encourgament. Feel free to do the same, I'm sure your recruit would love it!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! My little one is making me so tired that it is hard to comment immediately. But I hope that everyone has a safe, blessed, and turkey-stuffed holiday! It won't be long until we get to see our sailors and get to embrace them. I am counting down the days.
To all of you that have been such a great support to me, I am thankful for you. I have cried every night since my husband left. Since I joined this site, my tears have been more cheerful because now I know that I am not alone and that we are in this together! I can't wait to meet you at PIR! I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and I will keep all of you in my prayers!

Ash- Thanks for the blessing,. I had to shorten it a little but I put it on my FB. One of my son's best friends is a girl in the army, and several good friends are also army and marines. So I shared that with their families.
Tonight is the night we always set up our creche. So we are beginning the holiday countdown. I think I am going to put the sailor bear near the creche this year

As you all light your candle and feast today, gather 'round and give each other a squeeze in honor of your Sailor Recruit. Take a piece of your SR favorite dish today and everyone take a bite for him or her. For those of you soon to be mamma's rub your growing bellies and remind your little ones how much their daddies love them....
To all, Thank you all... Happy Thanksgiving...

Thanks for that explanation of the blue candle, NS. Read about it here but did not know the significance. Will have to get one for the holidays. Miss that guy!!!

just spotted this in another group so figured I would copy and paste it to finally clarify exactly what the "blue candle lighting" symbolizes!!

The lighting of a blue candle is a tradition stemming from several different stories. The candle is lit for sailors separated from their families during the holidays, for sailors in danger far away, or to light a sailor’s way home. It’s also popularly used as a way to mark the time recruits complete the most arduous part of their training–in a sense, to bring them “home” to complete boot camp and become sailors

Judie- If he is able to call I will certainly let you know perhaps I can 3-way your cell phone just so you can get a few words from him. Also, if he calls I will let him know you are thinking of him and to call your cell if he tries to call you! =]

Ashley- I love that! Thanks for posting it here!
