THANKSGIVING PRAYER FOR OUR SOLDIERS

Today we gather around the dinner table with family and friends to share good food, warm laughter, and the happy memories of Thanksgivings past. But for many families, whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year's Thanksgiving celebration will not be complete.

A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because, they have someone far from home serving our country.

Today also, members of the Army, Marines, Navy, Airforce and Coastguard (men and women, Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard alike) will gather in mess halls or in tents across the globe as friends and comrades to enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving meal.

So, as those of us who are blessed to be with our families celebrate and give thanks, let us remember in our prayers the homes that have an empty chair at the table and also offer a special prayer of thanksgiving and ask God’s Blessings for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice will, we further pray, make the world a better and safer place. And a very special prayer dear God, for those homes that have an empty chair that will forever remain vacant and for those servicemen and women who have come back to us, may their sacrifice not have been in vain.

NS I hope if Jimmy gets to call someone tomorrow that he will call you.... not that I don't want to hear from him, but for the first time in like 20 years I'm not cooking Thanksgiving Dinner! So if he calls, no one will be here... I'll feel awful! I don't know how to forward calls... I don't have that service on mine.

Congrats to all who got letters today!! Hoping to get one Friday before I leave for Florida. Loved all the quotes and stories about RTC from the letters. Great job ladies.

Also, thanks to all of the positive words of encouragement for those(including myself) having a difficult time missing their loved one while at boot camp. Keep it up. We have 50 days to go.

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of your families. Don't forget to keep your recruits in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow as you sit with you family and friends for dinner!

bluewarriorlady-I will find out for sure in 2 weeks, but thanks for the insight! Congrats to you both on your soon to be navy brat! And trust me I cried too, but then I realized (after the 3rd time reading it) he's okay and I need to be happy that he is safe, okay, and that I got to hear from him, and now I have something to look forward to each weeks for the next 7 until I get to see him!

My hubby wrote about the Peanut Butter Shot too, said his butt hurt for three days! He said he didn't mind PT, but he has always been an active guy! It's good that your son hasnt lost his sense of humor, that will help him stay positive!

That's awesome, joyceann! Thanks for sharing!

Here's a few funny things from my sons letter!
"We started PT today, I puked, it sucked"
"I got my peanut butter shot today and I'm now immune to hepatitis and like 50 other diseases!"
"My Navy uniform has my name on it-I'm feeling like a pimp"
"It hasn't snowed yet, and I hope I don't jinx myself because I have snow watch tonight"

Each entry of a different day was marked by "which day of "captivity" it was for him" :) He still has his sense of humor!
