I am new to the Navy. My daughter is in ship 7, division 43. What is the blue candle about? I believe my daughter said her day for BS is 1/9. I can't wait to see her...only 12 days left...HOOYAH!!

Karla:  I'm sure she will be fine and she will have a blast!  She will be so glad that she didn't miss this...PIR is phenomenal....such an experience.

ProudGMBarb:  Yes, always something to think about!  Personally, I would go the wheelchair route...he will feel quite special being wheeled in by a sailor...and no chance of falling and undoing the surgery!  Hope he heals well before then!

If you want to doublecheck on the wheelchair situation, call the Public Affairs Office  847-688-2405.  They could also tell you more exactly about how far the parking lots are from PIR Hall.

I guess the info about the PIR ribbons gets lost in the pages pretty quickly because I keep getting requests to post the pics and the info. Time is running out to order for your PIR date. All the ribbons that have been paid for in this group have already been shipped. I hand make every ribbon. The ribbons are to wear to PIR and/or the
meet and greet. They are a great way to show your pride, to recognize
other N4m members and they make a great keepsake that can be put in a
frame with your sailors picture or in a Navy Scrapbook. They are about
5 inches tall depending on the length of the name and look much better
in person. If you would like more info or to order click on my name and
send me a friend request. Thanks, LaLa

Thanks DramaboysMom!! I am taking good care of my little princess, well more like "Daddy's little princess" She's already the apple of his eye. I am excited, relieved, anxious, etc. for PIR. I am so happy it is down to 11 days. In 10 days I will be back in GL surrounded by new Navy friends and my family. It hasn't been "easy" in the least, but it will be worth it. SEE A LOT OF YOU VERY SOON!

Blue~ Take care. I want to see you at PIR. And I want you and that "precious cargo" to be able to enjoy the day/weekend. Is someone coming with you? Congrats on all your hard work!. Having your hubby away, being pregnant and studying for some very important finals~ I can't imagine that THAT wouldn't put a leeetle stress on anyone (sarcarism!) Feet up, rest, read a lot and out loud to that baby, Keep telling him ( DId I remember the baby was a him, wasn't he?) to rest and stay put until it's really time to greet the world!

Ash~ You take care of your little princess, too. It's only a little more than 11 days...
You ladies, just remember, your hubby's are doing this all for the better of your future. Although the time has seemed like an eternity, I'm sure, has been the greatest gift you could give your SR. Be patient. IT will soon be the beginning of another new journey!

@diannep - Thank you! I think I'm gonna just book her airfare and hope for the best! She will have her driver's license and her last name is the same as ours so hopefully all will be fine.

tobermorey - It sure would've cheered me up to have a phone call today as well. But only 12 more days! And we should get a call soon stating that they passed their tests and have become sailors! I am just so tired of feeling lonely without him here..:-(

DramaboysMom - Thanks so much for thinking of me! Yes, I am still on bedrest. It is so hard to relax though. The baby's crib and changing table came in on New Year's Eve and I kept bugging my dad to put it together since I can't. It is finally complete! Finals are over and I managed to get straight A's this semester! Can't wait until my PhD is over! It never ends! Hope all is well with you!!!

Comment by DramaboysMom on January 1, 2011 at 11:08pm
Blue Warrior Lady, How are you today? Are you still on bedrest?  Been thinking about you since I read that.  Finals over? Are you taking more classes this semester?  Take it easy....
