@Ash- Thanks for sharing what you found out. I guess I'm wondering if she'll have to wait to go in, or if she can go in with us. Maybe I'll just hope my SR gets the list changed!

Karla-I called PAO and asked a similar question, I also asked on RTC FB page, they said for our PIR there should be enough room for extra quests. As long as you are on the access list your daughter will be allowed onto the base. She just has to have her ID. They aren't denying anyone a seat is the word from my friend Brian at the public affairs office!

Does anyone know...if a sailor is staying at Great Lakes for their A school, will they have liberty on Sat & Sun or just Friday after graduation? Our grandson thought just Friday, but that doesn't make sense to me! Anyone's sailor's A school for AECF ??? Anyone with recruit S12 D 042 coming from AZ? Thanks!

Happy New Year everyone. I'm really new at this...first time having a recruit graduating! I notice many comments talking about visiting with your sailor in the hotel room. Does or has anyone taken their sailor out to dinner, or from your experience, isn't there enough time for that? Our recruit's only group will be his four grandparents...and we don't know what to expect!  Thanks for any advice.

Sooo - my college-age daughter wants to come to PIR now. She is not on the guest list and I'm not sure I can count on my son to get that done. What will happen if we show up on the shuttle with an extra person? Will she be standing in the cold waiting to be admitted until just before PIR starts? I want to book her a flight but am a bit nervous about this!

Happy New Year to everyone!

Because it is VERY COLD this time of year, I say PIR shuttles for sure!  This is a fairly large PIR group (11 divisions)...and car lines will be long.  Not sure what Dec PIR group Kate is mentioning below, but if it was a small one, then driving is not so bad.  But if you can't get on the earliest shuttle from your hotel, then you may want to leave VERY EARLY and drive.  I had read some blogs about driving this time of year...one guy got in line by 5:30 a.m....said it was awful...waited over an hour in his car.  So check out both situations and see what you feel is appropriate for your family.

From having been to my daughter PIR in December, I would suggest driving as you will get to go on your own/family shell. I got in the line extra early and there were still 4 cars ahead of me. Then you have a long wait before the ceremony starts. Not sure which is better. There is a snack kiosk so bring change if you are going to buy. Thevstands are divided into division. You et a program upon entering. Spectacular performance by the Performance Groups. I am looking forward to my son's PIR.
