For all divisions thinking about sending christmas cards, I saw this on the RTC facebook page, it might change our minds, or how we were planning on doing things

U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command One thing to keep in mind is recruits have extremely limited storage space in their racks. If they were to be inudated by Christmas cards by well-intended moms, that could pose a problem for them as to what to do with all their mail. As an alternative suggestion, perhaps you could send one card addressed to the entire division to wish them happy holidays

Bubba's Mom:  Somewhere back a couple of weeks ago, I posted s few things that I found will be open on Christmas Day. There were a couple of ice rinks, movies and later in the afternoon you might find other things open.  You could always call the hotel and see if they know any open events that might be occuring in the area.

We will be at my cousin's house, playing cards, taking pictures and hugging 2 boys!  Still looking for a mom or dad from Delaware whose kiddo is in 07046.

Yes, KATE, God IS good...all of the time.  Sometimes, we just don't understand His plan at the time, in the moment...but once we see all of his handiwork...well...He is amazing!

redsmom: Praying for your son's knee...that healing takes place as he sleeps...and that the Lord may hold it in place as he works out on it!  On our knees before the Lord...always...intervening for our children!

Bubba's Mom:  I wouldn't worry about what is open on Christmas Day for your 2 sailors...they will be SO HAPPY just to be out in the fresh air and with you all...you may just drive around and enjoy!  Plan as you go!  What a treat for all of you!

Good morning everyone!  Nice brisk 3 degrees here in Southern Illinois!  Recovering from Sundays snow and bracing for Wednesdays ice!!!  Way too early this year!  God love our recruits!

Received a letter from my SR yesterday.  He is doing well and says they do not do PT outside, just marching.  Since they have gotten snow and have ice on the sidewalks, they no longer do marching outside either.  My SR says their division still seems to get into trouble more than normal.  Just so geed to hear from them!!!

God is a good, all the time.  I pray for his knee and good health. Your son is motivated to succeed and I hope nothing will prevent him from doing just that, Redsmom.

Got another letter from my son tonight, actually the Life Aboard the Ship questionnaire. He said that things are moving forward. Again said the DIV is slowly coming together. YAY!

He said him and his bunkmate have the same last name ~ funny! He is from North Carolina and said they have the same personality.

He said that he has strained ligaments in his left knee but still pushes through everyday and ices it down at nite. PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM!!

He said he will NEVER quit and just wished his knee would heal to allow him the chance to excel once again at 100%.

He also said that the 5th week is HELL week (his words) when they will have alot of inspections, PT training, more PFAs and the gas chamber. His letter was dated Wed, 12/8 so that would put week 5 next week beginning 12/20.

Again I am praying for healing strength for my son's knee and for the whole DIV to have ample strength to survive if not excel "HELL" week!

I am one worried Momma but know in my heart that things will turn out just fine....deep breathe....

I have sent this to R "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it"!

HI Ladies,  I little problem, I got so excitied about seeing my son for Christmas day that I completely forgot it's Christmas Day and wondering what could possibly be open to do.  Now I will have two sailors and besides breakfast and lunch not sure what to do with them.  Any suggestions.

I was reading the posts from today to catch up and just the thought of all the organizations that get together and fix Christmas dinner for the soon to be sailors and allow them to make calls to their families brought tears to my eyes. It is so good to know they will get to call home and won't have someone in the background yelling time is up.

My kids had a snow day today and another tomorrow. We spent most of the day making Christmas gifts for family members and we watched a couple of movies. I was even able to get some late order ribbons in the mail. If anyone still wants ribbons to wear to PIR and has not placed an order send me a friend request and I will send you the info. I hope you all have a great night.

Taylorsugarb:  Residence Inn was wonderful when we were there...about 4 miles away (10 minutes by PIR shuttle).  Nice because they have 1- and 2-bedroom suites, full kitchens, free hot breakfast...quiet area...close to Walmart and the surrounding restaurants, Springhill Suites (also good), and Courtyard.  All of those hotels are Marriotts...very nice.  Residence is pet friendly too!  Not sure about the others.
