I would not plan on it,,, we were told that is only used for those on the list if it is needed.  They even announced it once we were in the hall that the chapel is not used for "extra" people.  If you are staying at the Navy Lodge they play PIR on two big screens for loved ones that wait... comfortable places to sit.

RTC Public Affairs:

Someone had posted from an PIR ceremony about 3 weeks ago that their extras sat in the Chapel and there was plenty of room. So, yes, conflicting info.

Ilovemyjob:  It is best for you to contact RTC Public Affairs directly and ask them.

This is what it says in the Family Guide on the RTC site:

"Those who are not on the access list should remain off base and meet with their sailor once he/she commences offbase daytime Liberty.  We do not have a designated waiting area nor do we have a standby line."

Comment by Ilovemyjob on November 9, 2014 at 11:51am
Me, my husband and son will be in the hall.my girls are also coming(11 and 13) my parents will be coming to sit with them. I thought they were able to sit in the chapel no problem from earlier posts, mnow it sounds like the info is changing. So what exactly is allowed?
Comment by diannep on November 9, 2014 at 11:23am

Thanks for sharing that, Lori.  We had been told there is no guarantee on extras getting into Chapel.  They DO try to make special arrangements for some who need to be close by (children, disabled, elderly), but no guarantee on that either.  Any trying to get on base as extras need to have return transportation as backup if it doesn't work.

Comment by LoriM on November 9, 2014 at 9:48am

Several weeks ago, it was supposed to be open but when it came to the day, it was not open to "extra" guests.  They only had it ready to use incase it was needed for people on the lists based on the hall filling up.

Good Morning!  Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and maybe get some calls this afternoon?????

aossanna,

You can actually personally present it to him first, but after he admires it, will need to bring it to your SR with his cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, a/c adapter, own comfy underwear, and maybe some favorite snacks from your area to the airport!  All this would go into his Navy issued backpack~~
