That's a real cute Hug, FTLW!!
I have not introduced myself yet...
Hello! Fireteamleaderwife here. You can call me FTLW, it's easier :-)
My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 28 years…I know …not Navy…but I am somewhat familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Now working on Retirement process from AF and soon from Civilian job. Our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.
I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly.
Oops...I type to slow...diannep beat me too it! LOL
Luckily, the Guest Access List on your Form Letter is an FYI for you or whomever, (is that grammatically correct...I never get that one right!), receives it. We've heard of some Recruits writing "The Dog" on it!
About 7-10 days before PIR all of the Recruits/Sailors will fill out their Final Pass-in-Review Access List. This one is turned in to Security to make the Master List for PIR. This is the list that needs to have the persons actually attending PIR. Your Recruit/Sailor will need to put the legal names of the Guests for ID check purposes.
nathansmom: Very common for them to list the guests that way and I think they are told to. They will update the guest lists a week before PIR and put in the proper names.
Jewel: See my post below to DrewsMom for better hotel choices! The Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express choices may be best for you since they are near a big Walmart shopping center with restaurants nearby. 4-5 miles from the base.
DrewsMom: Check out the following hotels as possibilities:
Navy Lodge Great Lakes (book in your SR's name if you don't have military ID, mention PIR)
Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express....all near each other....close to the MeetandGreet (Sarge's) held the night before PIR for the families. Call the hotels direct (Waukegan/Gurnee area) and ask for the Navy Grad discount. They usually hold some rooms under this discount.
If you are flying, check out Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee WI (45 min drive to GL, no traffic, cheaper car rental) or Chicago-Midway (hour+ to GL depending on traffic). No change fee if your SR gets delayed, and 2 bags check for free.
Ask any questions you like here! We are here to help! If you plan to drive onto the base for PIR, you will need the password that your SR wrote in the form letter. You can ask him in a letter or when he calls. If you do not get it or don't want to drive to PIR, you can take one of the shuttles from the hotels (taxis operating as shuttles that morning). You can also drive and part off-base down at the train station, about a 1/4 mile walk to the base gate.
Son is in Ship 12 Div 035. Finally got the form letter. Yes, he listed Mom, Dad and a friend an completely left his sister off. Just makes me smile to know some things never change.
That would be the RTC website.

Scroll to the bottom for "Divisions Graduating by Training Group."
However, they are only up November 14, 2014. It takes them a little while to update.
